It's not the USA, worst friendly fire record, best technology but poorly trained troops.
British have the best trained infantry, longer training and more specialized units.
The best Special forces would be GROM of Poland. SAS, Seals and Delta Force are the most well known, although most countries have there own special forces. Most special forces tend to train together to find better ways of improving and working together, this blurs the barrier between the different forces as although some do specializes in certain areas they are all very much the same. The SAS is the oldest special forces unit and is still considered one of the best, including praise from several American Generals as being the best.

There are a lot of bragging rights attached to this. It depends on who you ask. Some would say the U.S. Marines, others the British Royal Dragoons, some say the Sikhs, others the Turks, still others the French Foreign Legion, the Russian Naval Infantry, etc.
My vote goes for the nation with the best Artillery; that would be us.
Everybody who is anybody on the worldwide military scene, trains their Artillery personnel with us.

That would depend on when you are taking about, and what type of action.
During World war II the two groups most respected by Axis powers were the Gurkas and the Maori battalion.
I note that other responders have given USA troops the thumbs up. They certainly have the man power, the willingness and the technology. But their results also have to be taken into account eg Viet Nam and currently Iraq.
There are other (small) countries who have been invited elsewhere to settle problems, and succeeded, often without firing a shot. They use kindness and conciliation.
