I woke up in the middle of the night to :
sore throat
head ache
swollen glands
coughing a little early in the night but that subsided
body aching all over, especially joints
I'm a healthy 18 year old female.

You poor love. It sounds like you have picked up a virus. Try the garlic treatment. Swallow a clove of garlic a day without chewing. You could cut it into pieces small enough for you to do so. It is a natural anti-biotic and will digest inside the stomach without making your body smell in this short time.

Go to webmd.com and use their symptom checker. Only a real doctor can tell you for sure though. It does sound like the flu to me too but sometimes more serious illnesses can mimic flu-like symptoms...not to scare you but that's why you need to have a doc check you out.

You don't sound particularly healthy at the moment! It sounds like you may have the flu, but whatever it is, if it gets worse or is accompanied by a fever, see a doctor if you can.

URI...Upper Respiratory Infection. Swollen glands is a sure sign. Call you doctor and get an antibiotic. Drink tons of water. Get some extra sleep.

It does sound like you have the flu. The aching body usually gives that away.

mmm might be a number of things. the body ache is probably from a fever. could be mono, could be strep throat. almost any virus has those symptoms. i suggest going to a doctors for a throat swab and blood test

You need adequate rest and sleep, good nutritiion, and proper exercise. Also socialize regularly with nice people. Pray to God. All your symptoms will disappear in due time.
