Be completely honest with yourself and the Lord. You can lie to yourself and everyone else but you can not lie to the Lord. There is no closet, or led sealed armored safe that you can hide, because the Lord will still know. How can you possibly hope to have a loving trusting relationship of any kind with our heavenly Father if you are a lire and a sneak with yourself and him? All the Bible quotes and being a great Church goer, and looking good to you fellow Christan's means zero, if you are not squire with yourself and the Lord first, all this other stuff comes afterwords. You must completely open your heart and spill your soul first. If you find my answer objectionable and unlike the others here then ask yourself this question. What would Jesus do and how far would he get with his Father if he was lying and being a sneak? Think about it. Good Luck in you quest. shellback
Edit update: I know my answer sounds hard line, but we humans sometimes forget who we are dealing with when it comes to God and sometimes we need to be slapped in the face and myself included.

God is a loving Father. He is pleased with his children who love their brothers and sisters.
You want to improve your relationship with God? Love the person next to you by being interested about him/her. Get involved in other's life. Share what you have. Have a listening heart. At the end of the day, thank God for giving you the opportunity to love.
Thanks for this question.

Simply put, you can't know Him, unless you know what He says.
How do you learn more about your friend?
You listen to Him.
You watch what He does.
Same with the One that made you. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. " John 1:1-3

Spend more time in the Scriptures, and praying. There is no way to get closer than to know what The Word of God says, and to talk to him as often as you can. Draw near to God and God will draw near to you.

Like any relationship, we have to work at it.. It takes time. The more time we spend with one another the closer we get and the better we get to know one another. Well, our relationship with God is the same. We need to spend time with Him. We need to read the bible, get into His word and live the way He would want us to. We need to pray and get close to Him. Worship and praise Him. Build a closeness like any relationship.
Like any relationship the more time we spend with Him the better our relationship.

Reading His life instructions for you...the Bible. Obeying Him, talking to Him. Being still...and knowing that He is God. Thanking Him for the blessings He has given you.....individually. Telling others about what He has done for you. Honoring Him in all you do and say. I will pray for Him to surround you with His love and keep you close to Him.

1. Read the Word... this is His Word, and it will tell you who you are (who He made you) and what He does, hw He loves you.
2. Fellowship with God through prayer, become familiar with the sound of His voice, and His guidance... and act on it.
3. Fellowship with the saints (other believers), and attend ministry/church meetings
4. Exercise your faith, use faith in Him every day... think like He says to think, say what He says to say, do what He says to do... don't lean on your own understanding.
5. Praise Him and Worship Him... for He is GOOD!!!
Please email me, I can answer more questions if you wish!
Take care, God bless!

Put God as your first priority by seeking first His kingdom and His righteousness:
Matt 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

TRUST HIM! That's the main theme in all Christian life; trusting Him.
What promise from God did you claim today?
Here are mine:
3 Trust in the LORD and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
( Psalm 37 )
My pastor used to say this: "Yesterday's faith won't get you through today." And greater faith ( trust ) is what I am after daily. How? Commit myself to Him, claiming a promise from the Bible, an making it my own to trust Him with. That's a life of faith. That's dedicatedness ( holiness) .
And if you are especially trustful of Him, ask Him for more faith. He says that faith pleases Him, so if you want to please Him, be in faith of Him.
