Don't tell me they have no resources. The rest of the world keeps their pockets full of insane amounts of money due to oil, something they just happen to be sitting on and did nothing to earn. Apparently there's nothing in their religious about sharing the wealth so a few live in gold palaces while millions of their country's people starve in squalor. What advances have muslims given to math, science and all around advancing human kind??

in a black sheet and get degraded by society and thought of a mindless 2nd class citizen who isn't even capable of DRIVING in some countries (Saudi Arabia)??? No thank you. I prefer to stay where I am treated like a human being.

It arises from a fundamental error in the Qur'an: the prohibition of interest on money. This pollutes the entire society by negating the need to get things done. With this lack of urgency, the entire society lags, not just the sciences. This is, of course, in addition to the mind rot that any religion imposes on rational thought of the sort that is necessary to do science and mathematics.

Once upon a time, Muslims were the masters in these fields and the west leanred its primary schooling from Muslim scholars. Now westerns are the masters. It happens that a student may learn more than his teacher to become a master leter. It doesn't mean teacher is ignorant. One should not forget that without the help of that primary teacher, he would have been an ignorant all his life. Just think about who contributed primary lessons of Science and mathematics to the world. Much comes from Muslims.

First of all take a deep breath and stop being so prejudice...

Second note this: History has cycles (ups and downs) just like the economy.... One may be on top of the world today and be in the pits tomorrow (great depression for example).

The Muslims were a great civilization at one point in history... They ruled most of middle east, north africa and much of Europe at one time.

Prior to 1492 Muslims rule Spain for over 500 years. Much of the historical beauty of Spain is of Muslim Spain.

Muslims introduced the Christian Europeans the concept of bathing regulary and washing their stool, urine properly... (I am stating facts and not being prejudice)....Prior to Muslims entering Europe, Euripeans did not take baths for months on end...

Muslims of course introduced Algerbra (Arabic word) and had many other medical advances... Avicinia is the European name for Ibn Sina who was the greatest doctor of his time and also a Muslim.

Today Muslim countries have fell behind but that is definitely not their history and most definitely not there future.

I am a proud Muslim and American and want to point out that America has only been a Super Power for less then a century and historically speaking that is not very long...

My point in all of this is be more open minded and respectful of all faiths and definitely know your history before making ignorant comments publicly..

Islam is peaceful religion when you really study it. Try making some Muslim friends and you will know not everyone is an "extremist" like certain elements of the Media portray (especiallly Fox news).

-Peace be with you.

Why worry about Muslim countries!

Judging from many of the posts to Yahoo Answers there are plenty of westerners who have not had a good science education!

Also which particular countries? In most countries people living in wealthy urban areas would tend to have access to better education.

Media has projected Islam in an exceptionally undesirable way, it relatively is why u all and sundry is saying this. If one guy or woman bombed something, why are you blaming an entire faith? If some all and sundry is non secular, why are you blamings something of its human beings? I rather disagree with you and your rubbish techniques. did you comprehend, because of the fact of persons such as you women started out to take off hijab on 9/11? nonetheless, their are women who placed on headscarf, yet human beings look at them surprisingly. think of of it like this: could you have a spouse that hasn't been touched and is carefully organic or a spouse who has been touched even interior the slightest way and not as organic? could you have a chocolate with its wrapper, or a a million/2 eaten chocolate? think of of it this manner and get it on your head Muslim international locations are no longer backwards, yet your international locations are

Well, here's a book for you: Lost Discoveries by Dick Teresi. It seems that Arabic lands were the savior of ancient mathematics, and it was Middle Eastern scholars who continued to work with and develop math theory throughout the Dark and Middle ages, where Christians were squelching the use of mathematics and science was called witchcraft. Europeans would have lost most of the ability to do math for the world if it weren't for Muslim people. Like China, the Middle Eastern countries have a rich and ancient history of providing scientific inventions and mathematic contributions.

Of course, they didn't invent math or science - we have lost much more math and science over the ages than was known long ago, and are still working to regain our foothold as a world society in the understanding of our surrounding universe. Although it wasn't their invention, most of the math we attribute to Greece actually came from the Middle East. Sumerians knew how to come up with complicated and large 'Pathagorean Trios', and it certainly wasn't his own thought which led Pathagorus to any of his 'discoveries', it was his long stints of study in the Middle East.

Things like astronomy are just now trying to catch up with what ancients had knowledge of, and our modern supercomputers are needed to figure out things which ancient cultures had record of (like the Mayan supernumber, and how they could predict centuries of exact movements for Venus and other heavenly bodies, or how Native Americans posessed a clear understanding of celestial movement). As a matter of fact, we just now are figuring out things about solar radiation which were clearly known by the most ancient cultures we have found evidence of, which we cannot even guess the name of. Clay tablets from as long ago as we can imagine detail solar radiation affecting plant growth, human reproductive ability, solar winds, and many other interesting sun science factoids. Amazing, isn't it?

It's a good thing the Middle East was so full of awesomely informed and zealously driven math and science fanatics over the ages or we would be a lot more backward than we are right now! By the way, they aren't gone - the Middle East still houses a bit of the advancement in mathematics and science today. To suggest they offer the world nothing in those areas is to refuse to study the subject...

Sincerely, do some research. Your comments smack of a lack of knowledge, a mark of racial prejudice, and an inability to separate modern political issues with truth.

I don't approve of anything the rulers of those countries do with their money. I don't like that people can be in dire need while someone else is totally rich. However, it is also none of my business. I have my own problems. Also, none of that has to do with Math or Science.

Muslims found the basics of Arithmetic and Algebra. And they have rules for sharing wealth in their religion that are better 1000 times that Capitalism and Socialism. See the link below:

You are wrong. Algebra was invented, or, more correctly, "discovered" by Islamic scholars. Unfortunately, modern fundamentalist societies of all faiths focus too much of their time and attention to religious pursuits rather than humanist endeavors leaving the world a scarier and stupider place. Yeah, I know....save the lectures on grammatical errors for another time.
