Well aparently God was so loving that 1/3 of the angels and Lucifer decided to turn on Him! Hmmmm....

I'm afraid you don't know who Lucifer is. The name Lucifer occurs once in the Scriptures and only in some versions of the Bible. For example, the King James Version renders Isaiah 14:12: “How art thou fallen from heaven, OÂ Lucifer, son of the morning!”
The Hebrew word translated “Lucifer” means “shining one.” The Septuagint uses the Greek word that means “bringer of dawn.” Hence, some translations render the original Hebrew “morning star” or “Daystar.” But Jerome’s Latin Vulgate uses “Lucifer” (light bearer), and this accounts for the appearance of that term in various versions of the Bible.
The expression “shining one,” or “Lucifer,” is found in what Isaiah prophetically commanded the Israelites to pronounce as a “proverbial saying against the king of Babylon.” Thus, it is part of a saying primarily directed at the Babylonian dynasty. That the description “shining one” is given to a man and not to a spirit creature is further seen by the statement: “Down to Sheol you will be brought.” Sheol is the common grave of mankind—not a place occupied by Satan the Devil. Moreover, those seeing Lucifer brought into this condition ask: “Is this the man that was agitating the earth?” Clearly, “Lucifer” refers to a human, not to a spirit creature. Isaiah 14:4, 15, 16.

That is an excellent question.
The best answer that I can find is a line from Indecent Proposal where Woody Harelson is talking to his class showing them the wonderful architectures and he states "Even a brick wants to be something more".
Why do multimillionaires cheat and steal? Just because he was an angel doesn't mean he was perfect. Heaven is place. The angels are given free will just as we are given free will to either chose life with God or life without God.

Well there has to be some sort of bad guy in all fairy tails right? Otherwise the story isn't really interesting.....I mean if the story was like there's nothing but god in heaven with his angels and everything is perfect and peaceful and there was no hell or devil story in the mix to scare us into being obediant and good then the whole concept of religion wouldn't really work.

Lucifer wanted the glory for himself. The third of the host of heaven who followed him did so because his plan was to force everyone to obey and live perfect lives here on earth so no one would be lost and fail to return to heaven. That third were so afraid of potential failure, they wanted his plan. The other two-thirds wanted Christ's plan, that we be allowed our free agency, to choose for ourselves. Scarier, with potential for failure, but a far greater payoff when we succeed in doing the right things.

Lucifer is not God nor heaven. He chose to do evil with his free will. All the others who chose evil went with him.

because it's a myth. they say the angels didn't have free will. yet when they explain lucifer they say he had free will. just don't bother figuring it out too many contradictions.

Because he wasn't in charge.
Some people (and even some angels) just can't be content.
