Sometimes medication can kick in that fast, but my guess is your doctor started you on a very low dosage. It usually takes over 3 weeks for a person to start to feel the effect of a medication.
Anti-depressants don't make you feel hyper. At least they shouldn't.
Anti-depressants don't make everything right.
They just help you along the way.
I think you feel hyper just because you're in a hyper mood. But don't let that get you down about your medication! It will help!

"getting better" is not the term I would use to describe your situation. Lexapro is an antidepressant known as an SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor). This drug allows the neurotransmitter indicated in mood elevation and alertness, Serotonin, more time in the synapse to stimulate the next nerve cell in the chain. That being said, I think what you are experiencing is slight side effect in addition to the medication beginning to work therapeutically. If you begin to experience trouble sleeping, see you doctor as this is rather common with antidepressants. While the medication will help you, please dont ever think that you are "feeling better" and stop it without first consulting the prescriber.

Its a sign its doing something....
I just started cymbalta three nights ago - and I'm five shots of espresso wound up myself.....and even though I cried a couple of times today, I'm feeling a little better....
so maybe being wound up is a good thing.
Here's to a new life for the both of us - Good Luck

Feeling hyper depending on the characteristics may not be good. Call your doctor right away and discuss it. For me when I became hyper on medication it was making things difficult.

Anti depressants and most other medications for mental health issues are "band aid" solutions, but for some it's the only way, so yes, hyper is better than depressed..but rather extreme, you should just level out some.
Talk to your Dr.
good luck
take care

Medicinal side effects vary among people taking the same drug. Speak to your doctor--who may have to "fine tune" the exact milligram dosage to suit YOU.

No, it's not. It means the medication is doing what it's supposed to do. DO NOT under any circumstances stop taking your medication. You will end up doing yourself more harm than good.

I think you have to take it for at least thirty days before noticing any improvement.
