Nowadays, ALOT of stuff gets transferred to the computer via usb port and such , and for video editing with ANY quality, you need the highest resolution possible, so when it eventually encodes and compresses, it loses format. You need stuff to look as good as possible, right?

Many camcorders also take still pictures. For still pictures, 3 megapixel or so is desirable resolution. For HD video, 1 MP and for SD video 0.3 MP is all thats required. The camera down converts any extra pixels to the size recorded on the tape so they don't help particularly.

the mega pixels purely count on how massive you desire to make it once you print it. if your wanting an excellent percenthis is greater useful. if u going for who has the greater useful cam you purely desire to look at percentquality. they are able to the two be good high quality, yet once you deliver the a million.3 in a textual content the possibilities are high that if u deliver it to somebody with a a techniques better MP that it will look small. so the 5 MP cam is prolly greater useful.

high MP pictures are sharper & crisper. at lot of places enlargement & editing is required, where sharper images are needed. also these days you have much bigger screen sizes where you'll need better resolution as images enlarge. lets say LCD/ plasma screens.
