Not the edge you hear about in songs or by close family and relatives. The edge I know you're talking about. Get help! Understand, and accept that cutting is a means of attempting to cope, when feeling bad, for a variety of reasons, but it is like opiates, and after a while, you will need to cut more, and deeper. Eventually will come a time when you stop, and then comes the aftermath: dealing with a mass of scars (read the letters from other sufferers, who wished they never started, or stopped early), so the best thing to do is to learn alternative coping techniques, now, according to what motivates you to self harm in the first place: depression, anger, attention seeking, or boredom. Depression and anger management treatments are in sections 2, and 4.

Try writing how you are feeling down on paper. Watch tv do something to distract yourself. But cutting is not going to get you anywhere iu may make you feel better at the moment but its not a good way of handling what ever you are dealing with. Therapy is is good way to learn better coping techniques. Contact a doctor if your not on medication you may need it and if you are you need an adjustment. Don't cut somewhere where your father can't see it thats just the wrong answer.

Is it "best" a reduce or have you ever misplaced flesh at reducing. If you've gotten misplaced flesh you must see a surgeon asap to get it once more constant. If this is a deep however functional reduce you must desinfect the woung and bandage it cautiously. Leave the bandage on three days earlier than you open it and open it very cautiously.

Got any blood red nail polish? Paint the spot where you want to cut in a cutting motion... And if you need pain snap a rubber band.

don't do it girl you got to love yourself. Just know if you do you'll probably end up back there. Whatever your feeling, no matter how bad, it will pass. Get some good people in your life that have been thru it, not people that tell you it's o.k to cut where it can't be seen-that's awful advice.

do not listen to what that person said and cut yourself where someone won't see it.
That won't help anything!!
It sounds lame but my friend used to do this.. when she felt like cutting she would draw lines on her skin with a red marker (washable!). She would draw them slow, like she was cutting.. she said it really helped.
You never know?
