Are there side effects to the meds for this? Any general info about this is helpful.

You need to talk to your local Parkinson Society. Look in you phone book for their number. In the mean time on the net

Also in anser to your question, some people are diagnosed with Parkinsons and with medication live for many years and are relatively stable, while others deteriorate quite quickly. My father had it and lived for over ten years after he was diagnosed. He died at 84. My father in law has it and he has been diagnosed for 15 years and is still doing pretty well. So it depends on the person, how active they remain and if they are generally healthy when diagnosed.

As a physical therapist I have seen these conditions managed

My uncle had parkinson';s and lived until he was well into his 80's..He had a tremor in one hand, other than that ' you'd never know he had it-and he had it over 20 years.
He did tell me, he worked closely with his dr, andf took his meds faithfully every day without fail.
