how can i get my friends to stop drinking and driving?

they are seriously going to kill a family one day, ive told them countless times. if i was to make some anonymous phone call they would know it was me, same if i told their parents. what can i do to slap some sense into these retards?

in response to those who said call the police: i dont actually know when they are doing it, i just know randomly throughout the week they are doing it and very late. i want an option where they dont get in trouble, i dont want to have to call the cops on them. and to who said stop calling them my friends? i would not have made this question if they werent my friends, jackass.

i want a solution that doesnt involve them getting in trouble or ending up in jail, if thats even possible...

How are you gonna feel when your friends all die in an accident, or if one of them kills an entire family?
What will you have wished you had done differently? When you figure THAT out, you'll know what to do.

The answer is somewhere here with all these wonderful ideas.I think getting the parents involved is better than the cops. I think the next time they're all out drinking and driving, you should call the parents. You don't have to give your name. You can even disguise it if they know you. Tell them where the gang is right now. I'm sure they stop at a coffee shop, or someone's house. Then let the parents take it form there. You WILL be saving lives.

you can get the license number to there car and turn it in on a night they are out drinking and the cops will deal with them I report people I see weaving all the time to cops I saw one guy weaving and then he pulled into the bar I called the cops and told them and he was arrested your friends are not going to know (you turn them in) any one seeing them weaving in and out of traffic can call on them you might worn them that some people call and report people driving crazy like me and they may not even realize that they are weaving due to being under the influence you always think you are ok but boy oh boy you are not

also if you don't turn them in you are just as much at fault if they have a accident
and like you said they are going to end up in trouble either way but it would be better if they are stopped before some one gets killed less trouble that way! maybe no jail?

One option is to punch them in the face as they are getting in their car. That may not be a good idea if there are a few of them.

If you are with them you could try to collect the keys before the night begins. If you are all going out then make sure there is a designated driver so there won't be any temptation to drive. If you don't have a DD then have a cab ready.

If you are not going out with them then call the cops. If you are sitting in your car with the keys in your hand you can be arrested for drunk driving.

Mostly, people have to learn on their own. It is tragic that some lose their lives at the expense of a good time, but lessons can not be told, they must be taught.

unfortunatley, if they're not willing to listen to you there's not much you can do. They may hate you for it but phone calls to their parents or even the police the next time the act like this is your best bet. Think about it would you rather have your friends and the people that they drive around alive and have them not like you for awhile? or dead and have possibly killed someone, maybe a family of 4 one of them just an infant? It's your choice whether you do something about this or not. But I say reporting it is the best thing since they won't listen to you.

I still stand by what I say. The only way to get them to stop without getting them into trouble is listening to you, but they aren't. I'm sorry but getting them into trouble is the ONLY way unless you want someone killed. If you really cared about your friends you'd care more about their safety than whether they get in trouble or not...just think about it and do the right thing for them and everyone else on the road. Drinking and driving and then ending up dead is FAR worse than getting into trouble.

I think that NOT calling the cops or their parents is selfish.
Consider this: If you don't, that family of four they killed, one just an infant, you can be blamed for it just as much as they can. You're practically an accomplice by knowing, harboring fugitives (or at least the knowledge of them), retaining futile information. Don't you think that that family's lives would be on Your conscience as well? Knowing you could have stopped it.

There is a very easy solution to this problem if you are willing to help them.

You offer to be the skipper. You go out with them and you drink orange juice only or tomato juice or anything else that is non-alcoholic and you drive them home. You stay sober and let them get drunk.

Honestly, its 50/50. Some men and women wont give up till anything occurs to them whilst they do it. Then a few men and women will give up after they pay attention approximately it going down to different men and women. It's an AWFUL factor for men and women to do... I cannot assume why anybody could do it within the first situation.

calling the cops will do more then just slap some sense into them. I would threaten them. tell them that you will stop hanging around with them unless they stop. If that doesn't work, I would maybe talk to their parents. Ask them not to tell your friends it was you

Take thier keys after they have been drinking or hopefully if you can't stop them a nice big tree or power pole will... and then we won't have to woryy about your scum "friends" killing innocent people on the roads....
