My mother has asked that my sister return the bible. My sister is not speaking with my mother, nor is she speaking with any of our other siblings. (Words between my mom and sister forced us to choose "sides", by my sister) I wrote her asking that she please return the bible and told her how it hurts mom, but she ignores us. Does anyone know what can be done legally to get my grandmothers bible back to my mom?

Since you have no claim to it, there is nothing you can do. It is unlikely that your mother can really prove she didnt just give the bible to your sister. It is also doubtful that any civil court or criminal court will take action. This kind of stuff happens in families all the time. For better or worse. I think your time would be better spent trying to get your mother and sister to reconcile before it's too late.

Can someone outside the family such as your pastor or a respected member of the community, talk to your sister for the return of the Bible? That is the only reasonable way I can think of. I can not advise filing a civil case for the return of the Bible because of the age of your mother.

Sounds like a power struggle. The bible must have sentimental value to all the family. If everyone in your family read the book, you would not be fighting.

File a police report.
