I wouldn't, because It's none of my business and I don't have a problem with them anyways.

No I would not.

People look the other way all the time concerning minor infractions of the law. If I took the time to call the police over every infraction in the law, I'd be on the phone all day. People seem to be likening illegal entry or visa overstays to murder, bank-robbery, and drunk-driving. I say that they are a far-cry different. It is pretty much your duty as a citizen to report crimes that directly threaten life and property and I would do that in a heartbeat. However, calling the police for every traffic violation or minor infraction of the law certainly wouldn't make society safer and would probably serve no other benefit than to make you feel good that you were "punishing" someone for their misdeeds.

However, this does lead to the question, does a person who is existing illegal in the US directly threaten my survival or my ability to thrive?

If the person who is existing illegally is a murderer or a rapist or bank-robber than I'd say yes. I could be directly affected by that person and they should be reported. However, once they acheive "murderer" status their immigration status is really a moot point.

As such, I must ask, does someone who does not fall into the previous category have a direct impact on my life? Does Joe Gonzalez working at El Cheapo gas station illegally harm me in any way?

Let's see.
Do I have any less money as a result of illegal immigration? No. I seem to have more money than I did in previous years and illegal immigration has increased.

Do I pay any more taxes as a result of illegal immigration?
No. I haven't seen a significant increase in the amount of taxes I pay and illegal immigration has increased.

Is he likely to murder or rob me?
The answer is also, no. In the study I linked it says that first-generation immigrant are less likely to commit violent crimes.

So, neither my wallet or life are harmed by undocumented workers? Then why would I report him?

If your in USA this country is full of illegal immigrants turned citizens, if your are in UK this country has plundered wealth from all over the world and now both of them have become very civilized nations of the world and see illegal immigrants every where. A nation of thieves and plunderers and still fetch the same character world wide has no moral right to say who is or is not an illegal immigrant. Live and let others live in peace. Don't pretend to ignorant of the history of these two nations.

Nope. I think that people should worry more about themselves and keeping themselves out of trouble than worrying about others. Sure, if its someone who's harming or hurting somebody else then report away. Report all those child abusers and spouse abusers. Report the druggies, dealers, drunk drivers and robbers.
But theres not really a way to tell if someone is illegal or simply an immigrant by looking at them. And unless they're doing something I find objectable then I'm not going to waste my time playing detective and trying to figure out if they can be deported.

Not if they are not doing anything wrong . And everyone on this answer board that said yes I am sure that your grandparents would slap you for saying you would .Only if you are a Native American you can say your not an immigrant all you other 2nd 3rd or 4th generation sons and daughters need to look yourself in the mirror and slap yourself.

no i wouldn't. i have come across a couple that work very hard & spend money in the us. but the ones i know are also trying very hard to become legal. one i know, finally, after a couple of years living here became legal. now there are plenty of exceptions to this (as with anything) so i think others should take it on a case by case basis if they really feel the need to do that.
i would normally try to stay out of anything like that but your question kind of spoke to me.
i have very personal ideals of following the 'law to the exact letter' based on my father's experience. he was put in jail (& unofficially kicked around a bit) for daring to look at a music book, in the 'white' area in north carolina. he would've gotten away with it (as he did before) but someone 'ratted' him out.
so its not quite the same thing but...those are my feelings about it.

Yes, I would. And, they have done something to me... they have disrespected MY country's laws and they have spat in the face of millions of Americans by entering this country illegally. They are taking our jobs that we WILL do, they are murdering and raping, they are trashing our neighborhoods, they are getting free services from hospitals when our country's poor and elderly are charged thousands of dollars for simple medical care. Of course I would report them. Like a poster said before me, unfortunately ICE doesn't (won't) do anything. We have a house near us (in a very nice neighborhood) with 18 people living in it. This is not only a violation of the housing code, but these people are being bused to a restaurant to work for a man that is a criminal. The Department of Homeland Security raided the house earlier this year and four of the people living in the house were felons from China. But, alas, they let the remainder of those go back to the house and within a few days there were more people to replace those that were gone.

Would you report a child molester even if you had no kids? Gee, why can't we just live and let live? Only a few short centuries ago, Western civilization defended the "rights" of all adults to do as they wished with any child they "owned". So, it's just a little "law thing" and laws here are different from elsewhere. What's the big deal? [sarcasm...duh]
