A Christian man that had a divorce cause his wife committed adultery?

A man that ordered the torture, imprisonment and death of Christians and then converted to Chrisianity?

Think about this one please.

LOL....let me give you another hint....A great man of the New testament was the second option.

So you would pick the man that tortured and killed hundreds of people, probably thousands and even killed some before you would a man that just got tired of living with an unfaithful wife?

The first one. Divorcing someone who betrayed you is not wrong.

Ordering torture is wrong, and people that delight in causing pain don't change.

Changing my answer - Both have the potential to be a good pastor. The first man took an easy out but he had a reason, and although God hates divorce he is also forgiving. If the second man's conversion is true, then he is a new creature in Christ and the past doesn't matter.

Christians, don't you know that the apostle Paul fits the description of the second man perfectly? Yet God chose him to establish the first churches. Don't be so quick to judge a man whose sins have been removed from him as far as the east is from the west.

Edit: Yes asker, I'm sure I would choose Paul if he were alive and here.

That is a very easy question to answer, as you said both are equal. Thus you need to go and pray about which one it was supposed to be and let the Holy Ghost choose the right one. Now as for the Christian who divorced his wife you could say that he was not forgiving and there for not worthy but as you stated they were equal so that would not be the case then you need to assume she wanted out of the marriage because she was happier with someone else and it was never meant to be. The other you could say he was not worthy to be forgiven but Jesus forgave (Saul) Paul of just what your talking about and he was one of the greatest Apostles who ever lived. That then boils down to the Holy Ghost making the choice for you.

It's impossible to choose between the two, because the second man would not be a pastor in the first place. Charles Manson did not directly kill anyone, but were his "followers" not told to kill? Manson is currently in prison, as would the second man that you have mentioned.

I think I could learn alot from either one of these Christian men.

I could learn about grief, compassion and forgiveness from the man whose wife was unfaithful.

I could learn about restitution for wrong doing, or about hearing God's voice from Paul...

Because of their life experiences, both these men would have great lessons to teach.

Probably the one who refered most to the Scriptures - and that being equal - the One who spoke most from the New Testament. Should also be someone who speaks in language you understand and someone willing to take time to answer your questions.

obviously the first one, he did nothing wrong. divorcing your wife (or husband) is not condemned if the spouse is being dishonourable in the marriage. not to say the first one is perfect, i'm just saying there is no reason to hesitate on the first choice, from the information given.

Well, the second guy is in jail or on death row ... so that makes the decision easy.

I would pick the second one if it was the Apostle Paul
