If you are having disk space problems, try ccleaner, it's free and does a nice job cleaning up trash.

To prevent java and various "helpful" programs from running, download Mike Lin's
startup control panel. It is also free, and very useful:

Run it and uncheck all the boxes except your antivirus and antispyware software. Your computer will start up faster and run more smoothly without all the rubbish running. If you find you cannot live without something, you can just check the box again.

Java web start is just a program that helps your other programs keep updated on the internet as far as I can see. also if you watch movies online, you might require this program. If it isnt hassling you, dont delete it as you might do something to another application that you have.
