Okay, when you first start to work out (resistance training + cardio), what mostly happens first, gain muscle or lose fat? which process happens the most when you first start a workout routine?

I think that its relatively the same...results show up in 2-3 weeks. But it depends on you, if you are significantly overweight then you will see weight loss first before toning. If you are average, it will probably be equally gradual and noticeable. If you are already skinny, then obviously muscle (harder for very skinny people to gain muscle mass though). But also keep this in mind, when you lift weights, you are building muscle and burning fat. So your question is overlapping. Bottom line, it depends on your body type.

At first you will not gain nor lose weight, you will equally burn fat and gain muscle at the same time. But it also depends on your body fat percentage and the workout though.

I gained muscle first and got heavier. I was very discouraged, but my trainer told me it happens some times and the next week I started losing.

You lose fat a bit first, and just keep working at it, and you will see that your body will become more defined.

i lost fat before i gained muscle.
