As someone who has spent a lot of time at the immigration bureau office lately, I would recommend the border run, or you can take a cheap flight to somewhere like Kuala Lumpur or Penang, Maylasia, AirAsia and some other budget airlines offer very cheap fares. I've been to the immigration bureau a few times lately, not for an extension, but had to wait over 7 hours on one of those days, the place is a zoo. Plus, if you make a border run, you will get another 30 day stamp compared to the shorter extension at the immigration office.

border run has a limit of how many times you can do it now. I believe its that you cant stay in Thailand a maximum of 90 days without getting a new visa or extension. I would check at the website I listed below. They are obsessed with thai visas on those forums. In case you plan on staying really long.

Definitely just do the Cambodia border crossing trip. Go to any travel agency and they have them advertised daily. Simple and you get to see the country side from a bus window, and visit another country (for 1 hour!). Dealing with a govt visa office will be hell - not worth it.

Steve, I tink the visa run will be the best idea. If you do go to immigration, print the form online and have it all filled out before going to immigration, and go as early in the morning as you can. Show the form to the info desk, and they will give you a number for the right room to go to. I think your passport with all info stamped in it and your departure card is all they need plus any fee they charge.

just up to you as to how many days you want to extend - if 7 days does the deal, then why get more? Go to immigration. I have found them pleasant and helpful - depending on the day, the wait for visa extenson can be less than an hour - but you never know... you fill out the forms, get your number and wait.

If you are touring around, a border run will be just right. If not get the extension at the Visa office.
