Ok. I have some electrical problems on my 96 taurus. I want them fixed as this has been a great car and it is my backup car. I have had this car since new, it was a ford program car so we got it with 1700 miles on it in 95. Here are the problems. Its windows and interior lights dont work. All fuses are getting power and none are blown. It was in an accident and the passenger door is off a 97, the car has lights in the doors(courtesy lights) but the 97 does not have this wired into the door, i dont think it would be the problem as that circuit isnt complete if the bulb blows. the wiring in the door also seems to match up but i could be wrong. If anyone has any idea what it could be since all the fuses are good and the system before the fuses are good, let me know. I do not know where it goes from the fuses, but i do know that the relays are good too, all new. I just want to know what components could be bad and where the wiring goes AFTER the fuses and relays. it is a 96 GL Wagon.

ok, for those who feel like they want to answer this like dumb*****... For one, this is my backup car, i have a lifted 98 cherokee, and lots of other toys, i have a couple built racecars, i do not wanna ditch it as i cant get money for it. 238xxx miles and it is only around when im tearing apart the jeep. I WOULD RATHER FIX IT THAN HAVE TO SPEND THOUSANDS ON A NEW VEHICLE WHEN IT BARELY GETS USED AND ITS ALREADY PAID OFF!!! I dont need to waste my time on here with s****y answers.

alright i did check those, no power comin to doors, my guess is the accessory control module. I know its a common problem on these cars from doin research, and thats what i thought it was but couldnt remember where it was located or the true name so i can get a new one. It is what the fuse block is bolted to under the dash, anyone know the real name of it? it fails and causes everything it controls to go bad, windows, door chime, lights, and sometimes the door locks.

My guess would be a bad common ground point---have you checked the grounds as well as power? You need both for a circuit.
Eautorepair.net has online access to factory service manuals and wiring diagrams for a small fee. Windows and lights should be on separate circuits---usually 30 amp and 15 amp respectively and windows usually have a relay or circuit breaker in the circuit to handle the higher amps. Did the problem start after the door was replaced? If the shop switched doors without changing it to the original harness, the harness from the 97 door to the body connection plug may be one or two wires off from being an exact match---seen it before--and could be causing the window problem. Double check the harness plug to make sure each wire connection corresponds to one in the other side of the body plug.
