I'm confused...does that mean everyone before that time was screwed? And say I crashed on a deserted island with only a NIV...am I screwed as well? Please show me why the KJV 1611 is the "true" word of God.

Nothing. Because KJV 1611 was not yet existing that time. What matters is not before KJV 1611 because the people back then are ALL dead. What matters is TODAY. KJV 1611 is the Authorized Version. God provided His Authorized Version during the time before KJV 1611, and He provided one today...KJV 1611.

Forgive my answer.

The ONLY reason the KJV 1611 was so popular and was regarded as "true word of God" is because King James was one of THE MOST POPULAR AND MOST POWERFUL leaders of the WORLD when it was declared The Authorized Version of the Church of England and was forced upon the US Colonies. The Real True Word of God is the original Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic manuscripts. Any other translation or version is close and if all you have is the NIV or NASV or ESV or KJV than that is still ok.

I must also add that NOBODY today can even read the original English of 1611. It was much different than today. So guess what? The KJV you have today is not the same as the original 1611 KJV.

NO! With THOUSANDS of DELIBERATE MISTRANSLATIONS, even in the 17th century it was not the "best" English translation available and NEVER HAS BEEN...

tebone0315 Errors:

1. The FIRST complete Bible in English was Wyclif's, finished in the 1380s, before the printing press... There were NUMEROUS English Bibles produced long before the 1500s.

2. While the LXX WAS the "Bible" of the Jewish "Diaspora" or dispersion, it was NOT the accepted version in Judea.

3. Jerome "made a fresh Latin Version of the New Testament (which was by this time practically settled)..." Well, since the Muratorian Canon of c. 165 AD "practically settled" the text of the New Testament, I would hope it was settled two centuries later.

4. Jerome again "in his cell at Bethlehem, between (approximately) the years 392-404, he also translated the Old Testament into Latin directly from the Hebrew (and not from the Greek Septuagint)..." Clearly NOT, the PRIMARY BASIS for the OT in BSV was the LXX.

5. "Thousands of people became Christians through the work of the Apostles and missionaries of Christ in various lands, and believed the whole truth of God as we believe it now, and became saints, before ever they saw or read, or could possibly see or read, a single sentence of inspired Scripture of the New Testament, for the simple reason that such Scripture did not then exist...." OK, there were thousands, but the span of time was quite short that there were no "New Testament" scriptures. The first letters were written within about 15 years of the beginning of Christianity and all was completed within about 70 years of that date.

KJV arguments are pretty silly when you get down to it. KJV is a translation from the Greek and Hebrew scripture - nothing more. It may have been a good translation at the time, but it's language is archaic by today's standards and as such miscommunicates what the Bible's intended meaning is in places. Though NKJV is not bad. I use NIV, but go straight to the Greek for serious indepth questions. I find that all the modern translations are pretty good and you only need to go to the Greek for nuances of meaning.

There are some good sites that explain how the original sacred manuscripts have been interpreted and expounded on and in translation lead to confusion.
KJV is just one of many that might follow under such conditions.
Why do you think you are screwed?
You r not screwed just b/c u believe u do not have the correct version,or u think in your version it does not prove the true word of God.
All scripture was written by man BUT inspired by God.

The main thing you might consider is what Jesus taught.
He can teach you spiritually.

John here is a link to all the books, texts and verses that were removed from the bible. The bible has been revised and also changed many times from the original KJV 1611 the last two times in 1979 and 1992 was done by the Baptist church in North America to remove all extraterrestrial and evolutionary text. To create the bible that is used only in North America. To stop questioning about these texts which are also in the Dead Sea Scrolls and in all Sumerian, Babylonian, Aboriginal, Mayan ,Egyptian and in many ancient religious text.

Good question, have u ever gone to the library or on line and look up information about King James.
No u are not screwed God sent His Son (who is the Word of God) so that u could call on Him and He would place u in the Lambs book of Life.
Many people are confussed about the Bible, but just follow the creator and u will be fine.

The 1611 KJV was a great translation into english...mostly the other ones around were in Latin or Greek. When the english king threw out the roman catholic church (Henry Tudor) and made himself to be called the head of the holy catholic church, they needed a translation into english.

I think most bibles are accurate enough to lead you a point of purity and wsdom sufficient that you can ask the author himself.

the 1611 KJV is really only useful to reference the Strong;s Exhaustive Concordance.
Other than that, the KJV is not a very consistent translation.

God dealt with them. There were biblical texts long before the KJV.
But what has that got to do with you.
You're main concern is today and what are you going to do about what the KJV says.

Jesus Christ, born of a virgin, died on the cross to save us from our sin, rose the third day to conquer death for us, ascended to heaven to prepare a place for us, and is coming back to get all who believe this.
Will you believe this?
Would you like to go with Jesus when He returns?
