Some of the positive benefits...

A warmer climate is more condusive to crop growth in some regions so agricultural yields will increase in these regions.

A decline in cold related deaths and conditions such as hypothermia and frost-nip.

A decline in cold related accidents such as those caused by icy conditions.

An increase in the avaialbility of fresh water in some areas, especially those that rely on meltwater from mountain glaciers.

More agricultural land in some areas caused by the melting of permafrost, most notably in Siberia.

Easier extraction of minerals including oil in some areas. With the record melting of the Arctic ice last season several countries are begining to explore the possibility of oil extraction from below where the Arctic ice once was.

Warmer weather means less heating is needed and so reduced heating bills and less fossil fuel depletion.

Some species of plants and animals do better in warmer conditions, global warming will lead to an increase in their numbers and the extent of their territory, this is particularly true for insects.

With the melting of the Arctic ice the elusive 'northwest passage' will open up, it did so briefly this year but in years to come it will become more permenant. This will open shipping lanes around the north of Canada. The northeast passgae could follow allowing shipping around the north of Siberia.

People tend to favour warmer climates, for those living in cold countries global warming will bring more pleasant conditions.

well first off i would like to point out there is no statistical evidence that the changes by us is significant. That is we can not conclude with a reasonable amount of confidence that we are the ones contributing to global warming if in fact the recent trends continue.

Anyway, change has always happened. Life has adapted to dramatic changes and continues to persevere. There have already been massive warmings and coolings. There will not be many advantages to us that's for sure. We would have no trouble adapting, it's our food supply that will have trouble. And with 6 billion mouths to feed, efficiency is important.

palm trees up north and other beautiful flowers that will bloom - more fragrant flowers.

if we are not smugged over or steam cooked by evaporating seas - then we may be able to rid ourselves of seasonal depression -

there may be the possibility that some areas can replace the destroyed rain forests as we get warmer and steamer.

maybe the poles would shift allowing parts of the mid west to become sea land - but we have to wait and see about that.
