throw everything in garbage bags and stuff them in your closet. It will look clean without actually cleaning. Always work for me.

Think of it this way...be thankful that you have a room to clean and a mom that annoys you to death about cleaning it. Imagine if you were homeless...without a room or a house to call home. Imagine if you were an orphan or abandoned....without a mom to provide you with guidance and to take care of you. Having a chance to clean a room..."your" room sounds like a blessing to me and something you should do without your mother having to ask you to do so, would you not agree?

Its simple. CLEAN YOUR ROOM. Its common sense. I get it... your young and you dont like cleaning but oh well.... her house, her rules. You want to go to that dance just clean your room.
EDIT: Ever since I was 11 and I moved in with my mom.... if I ever wanted anything I had to clean the whole house then ask her. I always had to come home from school and clean the whole house and make dinner for everyone. So i have no idea why you are complaining about just cleaning your room....I would have loved to just have to clean my room when i wanted to go to my prom.

If you don't want your mom to annoy you about cleaning your room, then go and clean your room already. This should also increase the probability of you going to the dance.

Do what everyone is telling you and clean your room. If your old enough to be going to a dance, your old enough to know when your room needs cleaned without your mother telling you.

Just clean your room so that she does not yell at you anymore and you can still go to the dance...
You should be glad its just a room that you have to clean and not a whole house!

I will tell you what I have told both my daughter and my husband. If you want me to stop telling you to clean up your room ....... just do it and I won't have to tell you again!
Really now, clean your room, do a good job and have a good time at the dance!

Cleaning your room is the only way to stop her going on about it. Haven't you figured out that if you just do as your told, no matter how much you dislike or disagree with it, you will have a much quieter life. Your parents will not give in, so you will have to and its alot simpler to give in straight away.

Here's a wild thought. I know she's annoying you but maybe just maybe clean your room a little and she won't yell.

Why don't you do the right thing and clean your room 'real good'......... then ask her. You want her to do something for you, so why don't you do something for her (and you win both times).
