The Question reads-
A friend emails you to explain that he/she has had the following symptoms:
-Aching Joints, headache and a fever
-When awake, they feel dazed and sometimes confused
-They are having trouble sleeping at night, but then will sleep for hours during the day- their sleep cycle seems to have gone awry
Basically I have to come up with some ideas as to what disease/virus/syndrome they might have...
Does anyone have any ideas to get me started? I am thinking along the lines of Ross River fever maybe...?

Glandular fever would be my first choise followed by any number of viral infections such as Ross river fever, influenza, even HIV infection. A simple blood test should give a definitive answer

How about Chikungunya fever?

I'd guess maybe Lymes disease.

my guess is mono or another virus like the flu. or a tick bite.
