History has been very discriminating on tagging a war a world war. The critical mass would involve two camps of many nations, at least two superpowers as the chief antagonists, and multiple continents.

The war on terror will be relegated to the heap of regional conflicts, proxy wars between rump states and minor conflicts. When the next world war is occurring, your first inkling will be that blast of EMP that knocks out your TV and video games...

World War III does not necessarily have to be a nuclear war.

I believe World War III started on 911 when radical Islam declared war on the free democracies of the world. It is a low level, low intensity war with long periods between attacks

Until the world wakes up and realizes radical Islam is on the move all over the world, it will not be able to fight back effectively. .

Try the "War on Drugs" as similar stupid and ineffective example of Government justification for more money and departments to create bigger budgets and bigger Government. Terror is not an enemy, its a strategy. The one with less military power is always the one using terror. The one with the military might is using perfectly humane military force like cluster bombing of civilians, noble and righteous.
