Tell the dog to move before you open the door. Move the fridge so that it's not where the dog is used to laying.. Put a gate up around the fridge so the dog can't get to it..There are tons of options.. why can't you figure this out? How about stay out of the fridge..

Well there are many different methods to moving your dog away from the "fridge door".
1. Bribe it away with cheese or doggie snacks.
2. Call its name and hope it comes
3. Push it away
4. Pick it up and move it
5. Carefully open the door and step between the dog's feet
6. Begin to train the dog not to sit at the door
7. Block off the way to the kitchen
There are 7 ways! Find whichever works best for you and continue that.

This may sound really strange, but go in the freezer and get an ice cube. Throw it somewhere, and the dog will go chasing after it. If it's a big, lazy dog, just kick him/her lightly or try to open the fridge so that the dog gets the point that you are trying to open the fridge. Good luck!

Pick the dog up, set him/her on another place, then open the fridge. If that doesn't work, open the fridge door over your dog (don't step on him)

Get a fan or a silk blanket the dog can sleep on. Chances are it likes the fridge cause it's cool. So as soon as you get the silk blanket the dog will love to sleep on it cause it's cool so it will leave the fridge alone because you bother him by the fridge you don't bother him on the blanket.

Tell the dog to move. If he gets stepped on he may stop lying in front of the fridge, but may also get hurt.

Tell the dog to move. The dog shouldn't be in front of the fridge anyways.

Move it out of the way forcefully. You are the one in charge not the dog. Dogs respect you only when you set boundaries and enforce them. The alpha male doesn't allow any of the others near his food until he's done with it, and the other dogs respect it because if they don't they're gonna get their butt kicked. What we forget is that dogs aren't people, they may live with us but they still follow the pack mentality.

Move the dog before you open the refrigerator. I can't even open mine without the door moving the dog!

we have a dobermann that was HORRIBLE for trying to get in the fridge. we ended up attaching an eyelet into the side of a cabinet across the room. we'd attach his collar to a short leash that was attached to the eyelet. we'd tell him to sit stay, then attach him to the eyelet. he learned that when the fridge was open he had no business there. also, depending on the size/age, keep them out of the kitchen with a baby gate if it works with your houses layout.
