- Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki met Sunday with the top U.S. military commander in Iraq to voice his outrage over the reported deaths of Iraqi civilians during a Sunday morning military raid in Baghdad's Sadr City, a government spokesman told CNN.

Iraqis grieve the death of many relatives killed during fights between U.S. troops and militants.

Al-Maliki expressed his concerns to Gen. David Petraeus over Iraqi reports that 10 to 15 civilians were killed in the raid, spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh told CNN's "Late Edition."

The U.S. military said its ground forces are "aware" of civilian deaths in the early morning raid that it said left 49 "criminals" dead.

"There is a great tension in the Iraqi government" over the incident, al-Dabbagh said. the question is "Will the people in the USA care enough to stop the killings".

Why is Iraq pissed? Because we invaded it and turned it into a place of choas. We overthrew Iraqs president and killed him. We didn't care what the Iraqies had to say. I guess to be fair to the U.S. though, if the Iraqis have such a problem with us, why not ask us to leave?

Hi the article actually says why but you forgot to mention that part.
The killing of civilians in order to kill 'criminals' the American commander called them that. I would have thought that use of deadly force by a foreign army in the pursuit of alleged 'criminals' could actually be called an Act of War since it bypasses the host countries justice system and blows away any thought of a democratic system.
They are lucky that the Iraqi government does not appeal to the UN for protection from such high handed behaviour. Launching air strikes to stop 'criminals' would certainly not be tolerated in the good ol US of A. would it?

It's like Americans think that when opposing forces are anywhere near civilians, they can shoot the whole area up and justify it by saying "Oh, it's their fault. They were using civilians as human shields".

Oh, it's a good thing the Police don't have the same attitude when it comes to hostages being taken during robberies.

There's a difference between an accident and people dancing in the streets when the WTC fell .All death during war time is unfortunate and brings anger - but leave it to the drive-by media to make the USA at fault for crying out loud .

Great quoting if you were going to pull lines out of context why post your question here and not in fiction. I read the entire article. Yes there were mistakes made. Yes the Prime Minister is upset, but do not forget he is also a Shi'ite. Here read the entire article:

Perhaps the U.S.A. has slowed down the flow of billions and billions of dollars into Iraq and none of it is going to the corrupted Iraqi government officials.
