Try Yoga, positive reinforcement, and spending time with friends who may you feel good. It's mainly about your mindset and not focusing on the negatives in life but the positive. No sense walking around hating life when you could be loving it! Hope this helps and good luck!

Honestly, yes. How else do psychologist make their money? (Psychology = Therapy, not trained to deal with medication)
Therapy is great idea if you do not want medication. The first person was right from a cognitive and behavioral point of view. Positive reinforcements are great. Continue to do positive activities. Hand out with friends who are there to help you, keep social. If you catch your self thinking "the world sucks" tell yourself something positive, change your thinking.

Then again, some forms of depression need medication. We all see the chemical imbalance part of it.

Oooo, good question! Some say yes, some say no. It is my personal belief that serious clinical depression requires medication and therapy, even if the medications are only temporary. But, of course, then you run into the question "what is serious clinical depression." I know now that without my medications, my life would be so much more difficult to deal with due to my illness(es). For me, medication will be a lifetime friend. I've seen what life without medications can be like for me and I don't ever want to go back.

exercise is an excellent way - it naturally boots the level of serotonin the way Prozac and other antidepressants do.

However, when you are very depressed, it can be very, very difficult to actually exercise enough to get this effect. Is a lot easier to take a pill.

If your depression is under control with the help of medication, you might try talking to your doctor about increasing your exercise and decreasing the medication.

depression is very hard to deal with and medication often creates worse side effects. Honestly depression is best overcome by focusing on a project or another person. Forget yourself! this can be done on service, religion, excersize, etc. Prayer really helps as well as working with your hands. Good luck!
