In the United States, unless there is a light at the four way, generally the person that arrives first gets to go first - however, if you do not know who got there first (and believe me, this happened to me ALL the time) either wait for the other cars to go or some signal from the driver giving you the right of passage. Sorry it's not less confusing!

If it is at a roundabout you give way to the person on your right. If it is just a road it depends who has the give way sign. If you do then you need to give way but if you don't then you have the right of way. But then people can make mistakes so be careful at all times.

Whoever honks, yells and bangs heir car door the loudest gets to go first (just kidding).
The formal rule is that the person on the right goes first, but if you all get there together, then perhaps you can all decide that one person was really the first one to get there, and they get to go first.

The car on the right has the right of way but the driver's handbook says to never insist on the right of way.
