People fear things they do not understand. If they do not understand it, then eventually they fear it, which leads to hateing it. being told by people in authority that their belief is better than all others helps push that idea of THEY ARE WRONG. WE ARE RIGHT! The hatred would spill over on both sides.
Protestants hate Catholics and in some stances vice-versa, because neither one will take the time to learn of the other.

It dates back to the origination of Protestantism when the Church of England was started by Henry the VIII. Back then, the Catholics weren't as accepting and understanding as they are now and they used to murder anyone that declared to be Protestant. But then, the Protestants caused a whole lot of trouble all on their own.
Its a very old feud thats been going on for 100's of years and likely will continue.

It just depends on the person and their level of ignorance. Not all Protestants hate Catholics. I was brought into this world courtesy of one of each. My dad was Methodist. My mom is Catholic. My sisters and I were raised Catholic.

Protestants and catholics don't hate each other. Stupid people just need something to hide behind to kill in the name of GOD. Churches from both sides gets lots of money from the on-going "war."
The protestant revolted against what was deemed to be the corruption of the Catholic Church (e.g. (selling) exchanging money for confession credits). The Catholic church lost a lot of money and votes by the split. They weren't happy.
"Man is never happier when he kills in the name of God."

Protestants do not hate Catholics!
There are people in every religion in the world who hate. These people are not necessarily of God.

I don't think most do but many are terribly misinformed about Catholicism and some are eager to stay that way.
Some have personal and emotional issues that they project on the Church and all Catholics.
Some just are "into' hatred and arrogance
Some are insecure in their own particular belief system and they think that the best inner defense is a rabid outer offense.

I don't hate Catholics, but I do disagree with many of the teachings of the Catholic Church. The main problem that I have is that the Catholic Church puts tradition above scripture and has many unbiblical teachings.
The infallibity of the Pope
The virgin birth of Mary
The diefication of Mary
Praying to Mary and the saints
Confessing to priest
Penance to work off sin
Cellibacy of the priests
The list goes on...all false teachings added by man, but given the same importance, if not more so, as teachings given directly by God.

I don't know about hate, but a few months back the pope made a statement saying that the catholic church was the only true church. Personally they kind of weird me out, 'cause they do a lot of stuff that's not in the bible.

Just ignorance, that's all. They have no understanding of the faith whatsoever (other that what other ignorant people tell them) and they have no wish to understand it (no matter how many times you try to correct them on certain points).

that's the tradition of the Protestants. that's what they follow --- hate Catholicism no matter what. that's also how they see the purpose of their existence. they would lose the sense of their existence if they don't hate Catholics and Catholicism with a passion.
