atomic falls in the same class, grade and throw weight, but the variations are many according to the isatopes used, say for instance, the super h hydrogen bomb can boil sea water for an hour as it did in the bikini island test, the super czar bomb dropped close to siberia rocked the entire world three times as it rattled around the world and some believe may have started global warming.america has a few that can not be tested because they are a 'continuous blast type' one that creats another grand canyon, another that blasts over and over until reaching molten magma, creating a volcanic rupture, a simpler one was all given to israel, called the neutron stealth missle, does not destroy buildings, only kills millions of anything living

An Atomic Bomb is made with Uranium 238. Nuclear fission is what is done is the atoms from the Uranium are compressed so much that their electrons bombard hydrogen atoms and cause them to join with each other. The resulting release of energy is what makes the blast. The Nuclear Bomb is made of Uranium 235 (rarer), Plutonium, and Tritium. This is a fusion device. The entire core is compressed with form a series of control conventional bombs detonating all at the same time. This crushes the radioactive material causing all the elements to come to critical mass. Critical Mass occurs when a chain reaction of the fusional material begins on its own without the need of an outside source of energy. When the resulting material becomes so dense it cannot get any denser, it explodes. This is the most powerful device man has made.

I hope this helps you understand a little better.

The term nuclear bombs is not used very often. More common is the term atomic bomb(s). Usually the term nuclear weapons is used instead. There are two types of atomic bombs (nulcear weapons). One uses nuclear fission (splitting of the nucleus into 2) and one uses nuclear fusion (combining 2 nuclei into one). Fission bombs usually use heavy elements such as uranium or plutonium, and fusion bombs use hydrogen (actually deuterium and tritium or heavy isotopes of hydrogen with 2 and 3 neutrons respectively instead of the normal one). So fusion bombs are also called hydrogen bombs.

You didn't ask for the physics part so I won't get into that boring subject but basically, the trigger for a nuclear bomb is a small atomic bomb. That should answer the rest of your questions.

EDIT: Like Brian777 said; word confusion on my part.

they are NOT always the same : an atomic bomb is a fission device which is quite easy to build if you have the correct materials.
A nuclear bomb MAY be either a fission device or a fusion device.
A fusion device is a hydrogen bomb ; very difficult to build. It requires very sophisticated technology and is much more powerful then an atomic bomb.

Both fisson and fusion devices may be described as nuclear bombs or weapons

There are two basic types of nuclear weapons. The first are weapons which produce their explosive energy through nuclear fission reactions alone. These are known colloquially as atomic bombs, A-bombs, or fission bombs. In fission weapons, a mass of fissile material (enriched uranium or plutonium) is assembled into a supercritical mass—the amount of material needed to start an exponentially growing nuclear chain reaction—either by shooting one piece of sub-critical material into another (the "gun" method), or by compressing a sub-critical sphere of material chemical explosives to many times its original density (the "implosion" method). The latter approach is considered more sophisticated than the former, and only the latter approach can be used if plutonium is the fissile material used.

Most people think of atomic bomb as a fission device like dropped on Japan and nuclear bomb as fusion devices.

Obviously the degree was from a galaxy far away where the laws of pysics are different than here on earth..

I think what you intended to ask was what is the difference between a Uranium based bomb, like was dropped on Japan, and Hydrogen based bombs, the much more powerful type of nuclear weapon.

An atom bomb I think is still nuclear? I'm not exactly sure but a nuclear explosion is the atoms multiplying at a massive rate causing a huge explosion. (Thats a very basic answer though sorry lol) I'm no science wizz

a nuclear bomb is nuclear and an atomic bomb is nuclear so a nuclear bomb is the best in damage
