This is a really intelligent and successful guy. I have always known him as a Christian. I was kind of shocked when he told me he thought AIDS was God's punishment against humanity forsexual sins.

What do you say to someone who espouses this nonsense?

disregard him because apparently he isnt as smart as you think. many people have success but in the end they are still morons. and then explain to him that there are many children suffering with this disease, and ask him if he thinks that is god punishment too. because if his god is a loving one then he wouldnt torture children. i cant stand morons like him who say stupid crap like that.

by the way i went through katrina and had to deal with retards who kept saying we got what we deserved and god was punishing us. these kinds of people are not worth your time.

Just walk away shaking your head, although if you really feel the need to let him know you are disgusted and that you thought he was smarter than that. Someone who would say that clearly has no understanding of biology or how diseases work. Sexual sins....yeah. Tell that to the children who die from the disease everyday, who got it from their mothers or from a blood transfusion. Tell that to healthcare workers who get it from contact with contaminated blood while trying to help these people and others. Any sadistic deity who would punish innocent people like that for the sins of others is not a deity I want to be associated with.

But whatever. He's going to believe what he wants to believe. It's not worth it. You'll be wasting your time. Life is too short to waste it on hateful, ignorant jerks like that.

You could tell him that AIDs and related diseases is the natural consequence of sexually depraved behavior, much as obesity is a consequence of eating too much. That is "you reap what you sow", in accordance with God's design.

Isn't it interesting that people who aren't involved in sexually depraved behavior, nor sexually involved with those of such a behavior, don't get such diseases. Why? Because they are conforming to God's design.

The solution to AIDs - DON'T SCREW AROUND! (Just how intelligent does a person have to be to figure that out?)

Ask him how he explains smallpox, typhoid, bubonic plague, earthquakes, tornadoes, sunamis, the Great Fire of London, the Bush administration and about a zillion other catastrophic events that over the centuries have killed millions of people, most of whom probably were not being sexually indiscreet.

He might want to visit the New Testament now and then, especially Matthew 5:3-11.

It is not God who punishes now. He will not give someone aids. Am I saying he will stop it if someone continues a dangerously aggressive sex life. No. God does not. He loves us, loves us so much that he gives us free will to do even wrong things.

What do you say. God is not a God of pain or punishment. Ask if he remembered that Jesus died for this reason...

He is wrong,If any one will be punished for any reason, that will be on judgment day.God is not handing out plagues.I
believe AIDS was created in a lab and as usual a accident
and it got out.We all sin, God would be very busy if He were dishing out punishments.

You might mention that quite a number of those with AIDS, including small children, caught it from blood transfusions.

It is simply prejudice and nonsense.

Tell him HIV was originally spread to humans through the blood of monkeys in Africa. African hunters would contract the virus if they ate simian meat that was not cooked thoroughly or handled simian blood. Ask this person exactly what sin these African hunters committed simply by trying to feed themselves and their families?

Point out that plenty of people have gotten AIDS from blood products such as transfusions. Also point out the number of children who have gotten AIDS from their mothers, and the number of faithful spouses who have gotten it from unfaithful spouses.
