Well... I was wondering that if you wanted to learn Japanese somehow, how would you do it? In terms of "learn" I mean to learn to speak it... Its not exactly easy I've discovered... No language is that easy to learn of course but I'm 13 and trying to teach myself some. I know i wouldn't say "a lot" of words but I know... vowel sounds... sentence order... few particles... not too much though. Any reccomended website to study off of?
~Oh and I oppose online dictionaries because I feel that they aren't reliable lol

Ideas? Anything would help... Thanks~ :D

I went to Japan for an internship for one year a few years ago with no knowledge of Japanese at all, but came back at a basic conversational level.

The company I worked for offered lessons. I can try to outline the steps for you.

1) Learn your hiraganas and katakanas. (I'm sure you know them already).

2) Learn pronouns: (I, You, He, She...)

3) Learn some simple verbs and conjugate them with pronouns....

4) ...which leads you to simple Sentence Structure and particles.

5) Learn a bunch of small phrases and be familiar with sentence structures. Don't jump to stories yet so you won't discouraged.

Once you can identify the different parts of a sentence. You can actually read ALOT of kid materials. I say kid materials because they will have no Kanjis and have simple sentence structures but have a large diversity of nouns and verbs. Also, you will notice it has a lot of words like "Furthermore, long time ago, before long,..." that may slow you down. But with a dictionary by yourside, you should have no problem.

Keep reading!! You can find a lot of material online.
I just found one by google: http://home.comcast.net/~rocksunner/trans.html

Once you have mastered the children's literature, then you may want to start learning Kanjis and complex sentence structures.

Also helps if you have some japanese penpals or friends that you can chat with.

Good luck!
P.S. it is good that you are only 13, keep in mind that languages become more and more difficult to learn as you grow older. If I can do it, I'm sure you will have no problems. Ganbatte ne!!

I know EXACTLY how you feel! :) I'm 13 as well, and I've been trying to teach myself for about a year. I found a wonderful website, www.thejapanesepage.com. It has many vocab words, characters, and even facts about the culture. There is also a message board for all of the questions you have.

I hope this helps.
Gambatte! (Good luck)

that jap appears like chinese language. besides, from my commentary. such a lot arabs have V-line neck greater than east asians as I mentioned interval. - in asia a lovely females are portrayed as females with a v-line form face. in western international locations a lovely females portrayed as females with rectangular jaw. for illustration, angelina joli, J.Lo and keira knightley and so on. the cause white folks pick rectangular jaw than V-line jaw in view that such a lot people have a V-line jaw and its dull. I'm ecu so I pick rectangular face like angelina joli. I like a few south east asian guys and I attempt to study what kind of females they prefer. I have requested a few asian men approximately what they prefer in a lady then I discover out they do not have the equal style as me. besides, you additionally will have to give up being a whitewash. give up wannabe arab , indian or spanish or whatevers. I been to japan and sure I have obvious many jap females who feel western folks are the highest of the sector.

But, ultimately, you cannot learn Japanese by yourself. It's too difficult. Try to find a tutor or wait until you're old enough to take it in college.
