The buried chicken wire works great. A digging dog can only dig as far as the wire then stops. Bury it about 3inches or so into the ground all around the fence. Be sure it is under the fence too so the dog doesn't dig just beyond the wire. You can put concrete blocks at the end of the wire so it stays down. You still have to fix any holes in the yard where the fence is and any holes in the fence. Sometimes a kennel isn't so cruel if you take the dog out for play, exercise and socialization. It's better than getting hit by a car. The shock wire systems are expensive and often don't work as well as you would expect.

you can put chicken wire at the bottom of the fence where there are holes leading under. Do you leave the dog in the back yard all the time unattended? When you do get a dog, you should consider training to avoid behavior issues like digging.
Kennels are the best way to keep you dog safe if you are unable to have the dog in the home with you.
Avoid shocking your dog....

I'm sorry for your loss. I would install an electronic pet fence to keep your dog in while the actual fence keeps other dogs out and people out.The wire can be affixed to your existing fence to prevent the dog digging out, as well as jumping over the fence. There are many brands you can choose from - some are DoItYourself you can buy at hardware stores, others are professionally installed. The professionally installed fences ensure containment and training for your pets. The system can be customized to keep your dog out of flower beds, out of certain rooms in your house like a formal dining room, and even allow your dog in unfenced areas of your yard, so if you're gardening out front the dog can come with you! You can contact me by email or go to www.pugetsoundpetstop.com for additional information.

Sometimes people put bricks or logs along the bottom of the fence depending on if it is wood. If the fence is wood the log will rot the fence. There is also electric fences that are much easier to install and are completely invisible. Look a little and see what brand you would like also depending on the size of yard.

You could purchase some chicken wire & line the bottom of your fence with it. You could also just take the dog outside on a leash until you can get someone over to fix your fence. Either way, please be careful and do not let this new dog get hurt!

Why don't you simply fix your fence. Take chicken or rabbit fencing and run it across the bottom portion, bend it inwards and bury it about 6 inches deep. That will keep your dog in but other animals out. Invisible fence is NOT a fool proof system. If your new dog has a high prey drive or roaming instinct they make simply ignore the shock of the fence.

fosaken means that you should get chicken wire and put it under the part of the fence that your dog got out of. i would agree with that, seeing that invisible fence is much more expensive.

Dogs will sometimes dig when they are bored. You should monitor the dog while outdoors.
