Is there a way to upconvert SD satellite signal such as 480i to 1080i without subscribing to there hd service?

any components that can be added to upconvert a 480i satellite signal would be great, but do they exhist?

Every HDTV has such an upconverter built into it. Almost every PC that is set up with a TV tuner does it also.

This doesn't increase the resolution of the original 408i signal; the upconverter just interpolates the missing information to give you a fuzzy 1080i image.

It is not possible to actually increase the resolution of the 480i signal.
