Crunches and sit ups are perfect for tightening your abs and getting rid of your love handles. But you must remember that when you work out, you need lots of protein. Vegetables, lean meat, eggs, brown rice, wheat and oat bran, and dairy products like milk and cheese are considered as healthy meal perfect for your diet especially when you're exercising. You can avoid this unwanted fats by having a healthy eating habit.

There really is no exercise you can do to target them without exercising your whole body. Are you sure they are that bad? I don't believe in surgery but it may be an option to get rid of the stubborn love handles. If surgery is not an option, watch your food intake and exercise even when you break from cross country.

Simple - In excercises, twist 90 degrees either to the left or right as you come up in doing either a sit-up or crunch and that will put a lot more work on those love handles. Anothe way to do it is to do a sit-up but take your right elbow and it up to your left knee and then do the next bringing your left elbow up to your right knee. The main idea is that twist.
Some ideas.
Situps with knees on the floor to the left or right. Start on your back but with your knees together and rotated to the left for one set and then the right for the next set. Do regular sit-ups and crunches this way.
Some others:
Twist Crunches - This exercise will work your internal and external obliques as well as the rectus abdominis. These are the two muscle groups that live around your waist. Fat is generally stored on top of these muscles, thus creating the love handle effect. Here's how:
1. Lie on your back with your knees bent.
2. Carefully lift your head up and place your hands behind your head without locking your fingers together.
3. Twist to the right bringing your left elbow to your right knee. Extend your left leg out.
4. Now twist back to the left bringing your right elbow to your left knee. Extend your right leg out.
5. Repeat 25 times.
Standing Trunk Twists
This is a good aerobic-type exercise that will help get your heart rate up as well as burn some calories in your middle.
1. Stand with your feet about a foot apart and knees relaxed.
2. Twist your torso to the left while keeping your hips and legs as stable as possible. As you twist to the left, cross your right arm in front of your body in a punching motion.
3. Twist back to the right and cross your left arm over your body in a punching motion.
4. Do 100 reps.
The Bottom Line:
Just like with any stomach trimming exercises, love handles will only firm up if you start increasing your body's metabolism by exercising 3-4 times per week for at least 30 minutes. This does not only include crunches, sit ups, etc but aerobic-type exercises that will get your heart rate up.
Exercises such as side bends, crunchies, sit-ups, and torso twists are just a few exercises that are recommended to lose love handles. The truth is no amount of exercise will make you lose love handles, because they are mostly made up of fatty muscles, but nevertheless people have tried lots of different exercises like those mentioned above, whether they have truly succeeded at losing those love handles will never truly be known.
Burning calories - try burning more calories than you actually consume. Aerobics such as using an exercise bike or exercising on a treadmill are two good ways of exercising, but be sure that you limit yourself when setting a goal so that you can exercise everyday. You must maintain a steady flow of exercise, you just can’t do exercise twice a week and think that’s enough, it that is the case you should not bother because you will not see any results.
Weighted crunches are another good exercise for your abdominal muscles, when you add weight to crunches it increases the target to the overload muscles and allows for progressive overload, which is a very important condition in muscular dystrophy. Using dumbbells bends is another great form of exercise, if you decide to use this form of exercise you should try using one dumbbell, hold it at your side in a standing position and bend your torso and allow the dumbbell to reach the floor slowly, then use your abdominal muscles to straighten the force of the weight.
Also bear in mind that while you are trying to reduce the size of your hips it might be a good idea to widen the upper part of your body by using what is called a lat pulldown exercise which is a basic form of exercise; this will enhance the overall shape of your body. Finally bear in mind that reducing love handles is simply reducing your overall body fat by doing exercises that are not to strenuous so you will be able to do them on a daily basis.

the pleasant nutrition to do is a low carb nutrition. And as for physical games do sum move crunches three units of 15reps, additionally tons of severe cardo (stroll 2minutes,then dash{if viable} for 15yds then jog it out for a minute and a part; two-three units)and also you must be watching lovely well in two-three weeks.

If you are in good shape, you probably just need to tone up. Try belly dancing or salsa/merengue, anything that will get your hips and obliques moving. You will feel the burn if you do it right, plus its fun.

theres no such thing as spot treatment, just remember so you won't get fooled by commercials saying they'll target your problem areas. bottom line to lose weight you have to burn more calories than you eat. i hate my hate handels also, i just lost them and i gained them back. oh chocolate, why do you haunt me so.T^T
also, muscle helps you burn more fat. so along with cardio, do resistance training too.

try walking fast or even sprinting for two min then bring it down to a four min walk fast and keep doing that for 45 min

from what i hear you can't spot reduce. i thik you just have to do more cardio and lose fat. i hate my love handles too. they are more like hate handles.
