hehe...thank you for your question.
It was interesting, nice and made me smile, because it reminded me of how *very* different my sister and I are from each other.

To answer your question, let's first ask *what* makes a person the way he/ she is?
The answer is both *nature* and nurture -- meaning both genetics and environment play major roles in the "making" of a particular human being. So, the answer is: Genetics...different DNA combinations! :-)

Hope my answer helps a little.

Cheers.

the thing is that people inherit different things from the same gene-pool

some of it can be a throwback to previous genetic material like innate personality traits

it can also relate to the relative position that a particular child has in the family (IE firstborn, baby, middle child etc)

then there are family dynamics - is one child favoured or scape goated over and above the others? is there an ill or special needs child that needs extra care? grandparents/cousins?

then there are different friendship experiences and school experiences too that can help mould a child in different ways

well, whether you believe in the nature or nurture school of thought on personality and behavior shaping, both will explain the differences btwn siblings.

nature: each kid gets different combinations of genes from their parents. this explains why kids with the same parents have different eye & hair colors and may be different heights and weights.

nurture: each child may be treated differently or interact differently with each parent. more importantly, the environment each child experiences is different. they aren't in the same classes at school, they have different friends, live through different trends and fads, etc. just being related doesn't mean they experience the same things.

our genes and our experiences shape who we are. siblings share some similarities, but are still two different people.

We are all different, even when sharing the same parents. Temperment, tastes, viewpoint (birth order), etc., etc. I was the oldest of 9, and we were all different from each other. Actually, that is not a bad thing.

Well, at least some part of personality is a matter of which genes the kids got.

Another part of the personality comes from the different experiences the kids have outside of the home.

Part of what shapes who we grow up to be is in our genetic make-up. Our DNA determines what we look like and how we think and it even determines our personality.

Good luck
