I used to be, and by nature I am. I don't like the limelight. But out of self-respect, and respect for others, as a kid I taught myself to ignore my shyness, and be easy and open with others. All my adult life I've found that people seem to like being spoken to, even if strangers. I suspect it's because so many people are shy themselves and need opportunities to be open with people they don't find threatening or overwhelming. Anyway, I chat wherever I go, and have reaped great rewards.

Not really, but I know someone who is intensely shy.

When I first met her at library during our kids storytime, I thought her stuck up and rude. Her daughter and mine hit it off right away, but whenever I spoke to her, her answers seemed to me to be curt and rather rude at times.

It wasn't until much later, when our kids became members of the same playgroup, that I found out she considered me a good friend. Turns out she was so shy, she could barely speak. It was during this conversation with the other mothers in the playgroup that I found out that most of them were also shy.

Sometimes - depends upon my comfort level. I was a semi-shy kid growing up despite being a jock that played three sports. Now, I am until I get comfy.

Good example - at work I'm not - been working for the same company 16 yrs so I'm not the least bit shy there.

It depends. If I am in a place where there are a lot of new people or a place where I haven't been to, then yes but gradually I have confidence. But mostly, I'm quite and people thinks that I'm shy.

Believe it or not even if I'm walking on air I never thought I could feel so free but I'm still shy in some cases.

I used to be very shy, but I seem to be getting over some of it in my old age.

It really all depends...I am bipolar, so that effects my moods frequently.

At times I can be really open and outgoing, and in the same situation, I can become extremely quiet and keep to myself...it sucks, I never know how I am going to feel at any givin time

I don't think I can honestly say that anymore. LOL
I am too busy meeting people and making friends to even think about being shy. You miss out on so much if you don't get yourself out there and just meet people. : )

Somewhat, especially with people I don't know...but with people I do know I'm can be very outgoing. So yes and no...but in general I'm pretty shy.

In some situations, but not all. I do prefer smaller, more intimate gatherings than huge parties to get together with people.
