After all, you are human, and humans by their nature are capable of error. Therefore, since you ARE human and there's no empirical proof that a God exists, isn't it absolutely correct to say that it's at least POSSIBLE you're wrong about the existence of God?

Moreover, isn't it interesting that where you were born largely determines what God you believe in, if you believe in a God? After all, if you were born in India, you'd most likely believe in the Hindu Gods, wouldn't you?

So isn't it possible that you were born in the area that chose the wrong God to believe in out of all the thousands of possible Gods, and you just were unlucky in that fashion?

Moreover, if you say "No, it's impossible that I'm wrong", isn't that committing blasphemy against your God by saying that you're as perfect as he is on that one particular issue? If you can't be wrong, isn't that saying you're perfect with respect to that issue, thereby elevating yourself to the same level as God?

Isn't answering that it's impossible to be wrong on this issue the height of arrogance, since nobody has any proof of God's existence?

I freely admit that I MAY be wrong about the existence of God. That's the difference between people like me and most Christians.

So who's more humble about it, me or those who claim it's impossible to be wrong about God's existence?

Of course, man. Anything's possible. All any Christian ever goes on is what he knows in his heart.

Any Christian who claims it's impossible that he's wrong -- which many fundamentalists often do -- are indeed arrogant, if not blasphemous.

Of course it's possible, but it is also possible you are wrong. You're dealing with a double-edged sword here. As you said there is no empirical proof and chances are there will be no empirical proof. So, how do people believe there is a God? Everyone I know will probably say something about faith, prayer or a feeling; things not quantifiable. People who pray if God exists get a feeling of peace, happiness, joy, comfort, etc. They use this is a confirmation that God exists. However, for most people it isn't a one time experience. Of course, people aren't stupid and will continue to try and confirm that the feeling was really related to God and not some indigestion. When I read the scriptures, I feel good. When I pray to God, I feel good. My only suggestion to you is try doing the same and at least have an open mind when you do. You might very well be amazed at what ensues.

If I am wrong about there being a God and I die at 100 years old. I will still be happy for serving Him because I have never had an unwanted pregnancy, venereal disease, from having sex before marriage. I am mostly a good person.
The true God gives every single person the opportunity to learn about Him. So if you are Hindu you will get the chance to learn about the true God..
Matt 24:14 And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.
Believing in God with certainty is not blasphemy. It is a logical step in believing in him.

I think it is just theoretically possible that we might be wrong about God as we think we know Him... but not about God's actual existence. Even if we are all in a Matrix-like simulation, somebody had to make the people who made it -- otherwise you could call them God. Their is no explanation for the existence of our universe without a supernatural creation. Universes don't just 'happen.'

However, I discard some far-out possiblity like that as being of absolutely neglible likelihood and importance. As for my locality of birth determining my religion; I am very aware of that possibility, and that is why I chose to research other major religions with an open mind to decide whether my beliefs were logical. I have decided that they are, and that despite some astromically small possibility that I am wrong, that they make far more sense than any alternative system of beliefs.

Isn't it possible that there is no such thing as empirical proof, because empirical proof is only a man made invention (like time is) to be used as a crutch by/for the arrogant and weak minded who can not stomach the unknown nor the mysterious and have never out grown the compulsion to control everything they see, touch, taste or smell.

For now we see in the mirror dimly but then we will see face to face. Now we may know partly but then we will know fully the mind of God. Until we are fully prepared, that kind of knowledge would kill us because we (body, mind and soul) are as fragile as a blade of grass. I'll bet you don't believe you are fragile, right?

God said "My ways are higher than your ways"... so why can't you believe that could be true? Why have you never learned to trust (God by faith)? Do you think you are or could be God? Do you think someone you know is or could be God? I think someone I know is God.

No way I can be wrong about Jesus, whom I know and have a relationship with. To say that I am not wrong about God does not in the least bit say that I am perfect nor exalt me to His standard. That's like saying that since I know our president exists that I am perfect. That is truly a foolish statement you made there sir or madam and it says to all on here that read it that your opinion of yourself must be extremely low to go into such detail spouting off these foolish ramblings. Oh and no it does not say in the least that you are more humble because a truly humble person would not proclaim his humility nor would take such measures as you have on here to try and make someone doubt their faith.

Anyone can be wrong about anything. There is no universal truth about anything we *think* we know. It's all meaningless speculation, including the debate on whether god exists or not. Anyone who claims to know 100% that god is real, or not real, is just being extremely dishonest with themselves.

Based on some answers here, it's come to the point of complete denial with some people. It's based on faith, not knowledge, which certainly isn't a bad thing. I'm just making a point...

He's been proven to me. It may not be empirical or scientifically certifiable. But a relationship with God is a personal matter, not a laboratory experiment. By the way, there are Christians in India, just as there are pantheists here in middle-America. Geography isn't everything.

Actually, it make more scientific sense that there is a God than there isn't. It goes against the laws of physics that something can be produced from nothing. And yet the universe exists.

So really, what is more difficult to believe, a universe that defies the laws of physics, or someone who created it?

"The heavens are declaring the glory of God; and of the work of his hands the expanse is telling." (Ps 19:1)

"Empirical" evidence means what to you? I know of a non-believer DNA scientist that said "I must constantly remind myself that this was not designed." - about the complexity of the DNA code. Empirical evidence points to design. If there's design, there's a designer. We call him God.

You're right, we are fallible but as much as we are capable of error we are capable of being right. Christian faith is based on the fact that our God is greater than any other god, so you may think that yes, depending on your surroundings you'll believe in a god, even the bible says Satan is the god of this world - meaning that he has had power over it. But our God is greater. Also, if I say what he says, I'm not blasphemous, I'm just eccoing him. I'm right because he is right (in this issue).
