I'm aware of the obvious dangers, so here's my question:
In a tanning booth, if I shut my eyes, I see green, just like having my eyes open with "winkies."
If I shut my eyes forcefully, as hard as I can, for 10 minutes, I see black. Can I get away with that, or is there no way out of wearing the eye protection?

Edit:Fair enough, as I expected. I suppose the new idea is that: I would rather have a tan line from wearing sunglasses, so I might consider wearing sunglasses over the winkies. It would appear more natural, no? I could have the excuse that it's from driving.

No this will not work. The skin over your eyes is very thin and will not keep out the UV's. I used to never where eye protection, now 10 years later I have to wear glasses while driving and using the computer and my eye doctor said my eyes are the same as a 60 year old (I'm in my 20's) So now I always wear them. I use the kind that don't have a middle thing, they just set in your eyes. I never have had lines from them.

If it was safe to do it, they wouldn't make you use the goggles. Most tanning salons have pictures of disgusting gross horrible things that can happen to your eyes from not protecting them while tanning. If you still don't want to do it after everyone here tells you whatever, ask to see those pictures or find a salon that has them, and then make up your mind if your bronzed skin will look good with the horrific eye issue. Use the goggles...for your health...well...stop tanning, for your health...but...if you're going to tan...use the goggles.

Nooooooooo.
There was a lady who always typed in
capital letters because she couldn't see
well.
She said she lost alot of her eyesight
because she didn't wear the goggles
while using a tanning booth. :-(

well you could put cucumbers over your eyes and reduce the bags under your eyes at the same time as getting a tan...i guess that would kill two birds with one stone...
