I am a professional recruiter for companies, and what everyone is looking for is someone with the following attributes:
1. Dress well, suit tie, the whole nine, even if you think you are overdressed, it works.
2. Be confident, know what you are worth, and that you are an attribute to their company.
3. Know what your strengths are, and how you would handle a difficult situation - they will ask you that.
4. When asked what your weaknesses are, make sure that you are honest, to a point, but put a positive spin on it such as "I tend to overanalyze things, but I was able to save $100 on a purchase by being so detail oriented"
5. ALWAYS ask qestions at the end of the interview when the say "do you have any questions for me?" ask about the company, how it got started, how the interviewer likes working for the company and why. They will see that as a big strength.
Good luck!! Practice with someone so you have your answers already prepared, and go online and type in "interview questions" and it will give a list of the most common questions they will ask. Oh,and always send a thank you note, wether it be via email or paper thanking them for taking the time to meet with you and considering you for the position. you'll earn big points with that.

Before the interview:
1. If the company you're going to work for has a website, go read it. Figure out what's important to them. Look at the career page - what kind of people are they looking for?
2. Make sure that right before you go to the interview, you check the news to be sure they aren't in it. If something has just occurred that matters to them, it's a great ice breaker to know about it.
3. Dress neatly and in keeping with the job - if you're in doubt, dress a little nicer than you think the job requires. Get a haircut if you're close to needing one.
4. Think of several key questions that you'd like to ask THEM about the job. What are the key elements of success? etc. They will ask you if you have any questions - you MUST have several.
During the interview:
1. Show a real interest. When the hiring manager tells you something, LISTEN and ask for more information, if appropriate.
2. Look energetic. Don't slouch.
3. Be ready to discuss 2-3 reasons why your background has taught you something that is directly relevant to the job - why are you the right candidate?
4. At the end of the interview, ask the interterviewer - does he/she perceive you, now that you've met? Also ask what the next step/follow up process will be.
After the interview:
1. FOLLOW UP with a thank you note! Probably an email. Thank them for the chance - highlight the reasons you're the best candidate.
2. If you don't hear something in a reasonable amount of time (reasonable being defined by what you heard during the interview) FOLLOW UP politely by phone.

First of all - dress very nice, no jeans and T-shirt. During the interview (even if that's what they wear on the job), lean forward like you are interested in the company/job. Ask questions about the company - but not about how much you'll be paid or how much time you'll have off. Start off with a genuine compliment - like "This is a beautiful office." or "Wow, everyone is so cheerful here, they must like working here." The compliment has to be genuine, if it's false they'll know. Good Luck! I hope you get the job.
Oh, very important - BE HONEST! There's nothing wrong with telling the person you're alittle nervous and never had a job before - that puts them in an authoratative position which they will like and they will want to put you at ease.

I'm a recruiter for a marketing firm, my descions are mostly made within the first 5 minutes of meeting a potential recruit. Here are some winning tips:
1.) Punctuality ( Be early or don't show up)
2.) Dress to impress ( you can never be overdressed)
3.) Whatever language they are talking to you in Ex. (pitch, venacular, tones) mimic to put them at ease.
4.)Eye contact
5.)Good Posture
6.)Wear dark clean colors. (if no tie make SURE you STARCH your shirt) trust me I screwed that up once myself.
7.) Prepare (do some researchto make yourself more comfortable
8.) Integrity combine this with your confidence and you will hit a home run.

If you do not get this job, never give up.....there will always be a job for you out there.
Since you are young, please allow me to tell you that your job record will follow you the rest of your life. Employers will tell each other how you acted on the job, did you give them 8 hours of work without fooling around, did you miss a lot of work, were you late, did you have a smart mouth and talk back, did you take orders well.

Read up on the company before the interview. They might ask you "what do you know about our company?" and you don't want to say nothing! Also, try to have some questions you would like to ask them. At the end of most interviews they will ask you if you have any and it is good to have some appropriate questions. I'm not sure what type of job it is you are going for, so can't really help any more than that.

Mean what you say and be honest about what you're doing there. Envision yourself being prompt to work and tell your interviewer you are reliable and on time. Learn about what the job entails, envision yourself being able to do the job well, and look that interviewer in the eye and let him or her know you are the right candidate. No bs. You're coming from an honest place - you want to do a job that you can handle.
You're not there to beg. Be straight with them, dress neatly, and be friendly. You'll do fine.

Dress like if the guy offers you to start right after the interview you would be ready to work. Wear a suit for an office job vs a polo shirt and clean slacks for a retail type job.
Make sure your shoes are clean and polished. Avoid running shoes unless the job requires running like bus'ing at tables. Make sure your nails are clean & you have a smile on your face. If he asks you how you rate yourself tell him your a 10.. don't downgrade yourself breath self confidence!

Eye-contact. Keep it, no mad-dogging just give eye contact. They will definately ask you, what can you bring to to the table. Say something along teh lines of Im dedicated, hard working, focossed, highly adaptable to new environments (companies love this because a lot of people dont get comfortabke quickly.) Also, a lot of places ask what is your weakness. Never answer this hoenstly. Always give a weakness that is actually a strength. Say something like, Im too metoculous and I have to make sure the job is done right or something like, Im too thorough, I just have to make sure everything is done right. I have a tendency to double check everything.

First work on your appearance. Shave and make sure your hair looks professional (not the sloppy teen look). Wear a suit or a nice button down shirt with slacks and dress shoes. Be confident and smile. No gum, have fresh breath, smell like soap and deodorant no cologne. Answer questions truthfully and make a good impression.
