My daughter married her high school sweetheart between boot camp and his infantry training, which is where he is right now. He filled out the marriage packet when he got to SOI. I emailed his recruiter Friday and have not heard back from him yet. She has an impacted wisdom tooth that is really causing her a lot of pain and making her sick but she doesn't have proof of insurance so she can go to the doctor or dentist. What does she need to do to get her insurance card? We are new to this.
Thank you in advance for your answers.

you need to make sure she is enrolled in tricare, the military insurance company. and then her insurance number will be her husbands social sec number. pretty easy fix, good luck

if she has an id card, that should do just fine. if not, take her to the id card place on your nearest post and bring in the marriage cert. and get one

edit..
you know what, im an idiot. the answer below IS correct. united concordia is the dental program. its easy to enroll, just have to call and the payment for the insurance is around 20 buck and will automatically come out of her husbands check.

The recruiter may not be the person to help with this. It's probably going to be someone who's processing his change-of-status information... like within the personnel department at any large company.

I believe, once she has the appropriate paperwork in hand, she can go to any local base (of any branch of the military) and they can help her get her ID card ordered.) She'll be eligible for access to Tri-Care medical care, which will be located at your nearest military base with medical facilities. For some folks that's quite a drive. She won't be able to just go to her local dentist or oral surgeon.

If she is still covered on your insurance policy, it will be better to just get her seen under your coverage, using her maiden name.

I also agree with the above poster... call TRICARE and see what advice they give you.

Dental is NOT covered for dependants. Only Active Duty can receive Dental care on base. You can buy dental insurance through United Concordia. it's about $20.00 a month and is paid through an allotment in his military pay. She has NO Dental insurance at until this is done! Even the recruiter should be able to tell you that!

Yep, my husband had to enroll me in the United Concordia dental program. It costs 11 dollars a month. The costs are not covered completely. To have wisdom teeth removed, which is considered oral surgery, she will have to pay 30% of whatever the cost is and she will have to pay 40% of whatever the cost for anesthesia is.

Here is the website for the Tricare Dental Program: United Concordia.
http://www.tricaredentalprogram.com/tdptws/home.jsp

On that website, I believe she can enroll online if she has all the information that she needs. I believe there is a waiting period before she can start to be covered but I am not sure. Check the site!

You can call DEERS office, you can also go online to www.healthnetfederalservices.com under beneficiaries page. Check with his unit on the base where he's in training. You can also contact the commanding officer at the recruiting station when your son enlisted. If you're near a base you can contact the Family Services office, they can give you some direction as to whom you'd need to call. They will be able to give you some information. His recruiter probably could care less..In his eyes he's done his part...he got your son to sign on the dotted line. Hopefully this isn't the case.

What in blazes are you talking about? Insurance card?
If she has a legal family member(dependent) ID, She is enrolled in DEERS and in TRICARE.
She can be seen at any military medical/dental clinic on Post/Base.
Now, If she is too far from any military installation, She can find a local dentist that will accept TRICARE.

if she has her dependent I.D. card, and he signed up for dependent dental, there is no need for a proof of insurance. Most dentists that have dealt with military dependents know that the military dependent dental insurance is United Concordia.

all the marriage packet does is enroll her in DEERS....after that he has to actually go and enroll her in tricare......and dental which is united concordia is not automatic he has to elect to take it and pay for it. if she is enrolled in DEERS she can go to the nearest base (if she has the paperwork) and pick up an ID card. if she does not have the paperwork its gonna be really hard for her to get anyone to help her honestly. usually tricare doesnt issue cards ....united concordia does however. most times for dependents you get your dental care at a civilian dentist....of their choosing.

does she have an ID card? if so, she is entered in DEERS and can sign up for Dental. the first month will have to be paid up front and will go into affect the following month if she were to sign up today.. so Dec. 1st.

If she does not have an ID card, she needs to verify that she IS in DEERS. she absolutely needs the ID card before she can enroll in Tricare Prime and Dental.
