Or which do you prefer.

To be honest I think none of them really mean anything anymore. There's so many that the World Championships are worthless in my eyes. It's the boxers that you beat not the Championships that you hold that make you a legend.

Before Oscar De La Hoya bought Ring magazine, I thought that their rankings and Ring Champions were pretty good. I'll never know now though because I refuse to ever pick one up again. But they are not a sanctioning body though. So as far as an actual sanctioning body, I am going to say WBA because it is the oldest. The rest, in a way, kind of followed the WBA's lead. But yeah, they are all garbage. But fighters ducking fighters, demanding way too much money, promoters refusing to work with other promoters, HBO and Showtime not getting along... none of that helps. I doubt we'll ever see an era again where every division has A champion, not 3 or 4 (or probably more one day).

I totally agree. Those various alphabet title belts have become such a crap that nobody cares anymore who wears 'em. It is ironic that, in the superfeatherweight division for instance, we all know Manny Pacquiao is the best and also the top draw, but he doesn't have a world title belt to speak of. He fought and beat the best in big money fights without a world title at stake. That's the sad thing about boxing these days. It's all about money and not championships. Too much politics deprives us of the fights we really want to see. We should revert back to the old days when there's only ONE duly recognized champ for every weight class.

As you say i don't care for any of the organizations they have turned out to be a very bad thing for boxing in the long run, all they have done is made promoters richer, maybe a few boxers have been paid more than they would have because they have got theirselves on to a fight card that has a title fight on it but i don't think the pros outweigh the cons. There has to be a day when it goes back to one title for each division. As for the mickey mouse organizations the wbc is supposed to be the most prestigious to hold but God knows who decided that and the wba as Ric has said is the oldest but as i have mentioned i don't like any of them. One Champ for One Division.

I agree with what you say. None of them are valid. I trust the Ring Magazine rankings over all the "alphabet soup" groupings out there. And it doesn't matter who owns it. As long as Nigel Collins stays on as editor and maintains editorial control, it will remain what it was.
