Prostate cancer has few early symptoms. You might have difficulty urinating. The only way to diagnose prostate cancer early is by getting regular PSA tests and digital prostate exams done.

Many other cancers have common early symptoms like unexplained weight loss, fatigue for no good reason, unexplained fevers, night sweats, coughs that won't go away, unexplained pains, difficulty swallowing - and so on - depending upon type of cancer.

If you have some of these symptoms and they have continued for a month or longer then you need to see a physician. You might have an infection like mono but you might also have cancer.

There are so many different forms of cancer, it's a bit difficult to answer your question in relation too all types. Do you have some sort of sign that's made you think that you do? If so, the best and most accurate way of knowing is for you to go to your doctor and be tested for such. If for some reason the test comes back negative and you're still seeing the same signs...keep asking. Go with your gut feeling because time is of the essence when dealing with cancer...the only thing that truly gives you a fighting chance.

If you really want to know, I think you have to go to a doctor to find out. Or look up on the web for the symptoms you are inquisitive about. Don't become obsessed with this stuff because many symptoms could be due to plenty of other things other than cancer.

There are so many forms of cancer that its a tough question to answer! If you lose weight in a short period of time, I guess that is a warning sign, and if you have a mole that changes colors, I know that this is a sign of a cancerous growth.

I do not know about prostate cancer but my leukemia started out with a broken ankle I received just by standing up. Then I got a cyst under my arm. Then I got what I thought was my usual migraine. i went to the er and they did blood tests and found out I had leukemia. I do not know what your symptoms are but you need to be checked.

The only 100% sure way is to go to a doctor if you SUSPECT you have cancer, especially if you have any of the risk factors, i.e., If cancer of any kind runs in your family, or if you smoke or work around toxic materials.

The only way to know is to:
a) Get the proper tests done at the proper times to find out.
b) Accidentally discover it during a test for something else.
c) Die of it (not the preferred method, but effective).

They have insisted on a biopsy to definitely decide if it is cancer or not. CT scans, PT scans show that it is probably cancer, but the biopsy is the definitive way of knowing.

The only way to really keep up and know for sure is by having regular checkups with your physician. Also, learn from your body, when you feel like something isn't right, get it checked out. It's better to be safe than sorry!
