I have recently been reading a lot of quotes and texts related to Buddhism and I really like what it teaches, but I am not Buddhist, I am Christian. I do know that Buddha was a philosopher and not held in such high regards as an actual deity, but I also know that some people probably do think of him as a god and I don't want to start thinking that way so I've been trying to avoid getting too much into Buddhist teachings. Do any other Christians out there think that the connection between Christianity and Buddhism is very close in the way that Jesus and Buddha both teach peace and kindness to your fellow man, and if so, do you put to practice any Buddhist teachings?

Oh definitely. I was in a local viet restaurant and I picked up a book of daily Buddhist devotionals and there were a lot of similarities in it to many christian teachings.

I think you can be a spiritual christian and a philosophical buddhist at the same time.

Connection?!......What does darkness have to do with light? What does the Truth of God have to do with the lie of Satan?.....Buddhism is a just a FALSE version of Christianity where there is ((((NO SALVATION)))!!...... In one of His parables Jesus explains that, as soon as some people hear God's truth, "the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved" (Luke 8:12). Satan will stop at nothing to keep people blinded to the fullness of God's truth. The result, as Jesus explained, is that "the gate is wide and the road is easy that leads to destruction, and there are many who take it," and "the gate is narrow and the road is hard that leads to life, and there are few who find it" (Matthew 7:13-14, NRSV).

Absolutely not! Buddists pray to an idol and worship someone who is dead. Christians pray to & worship the One who lives for evermore, Jesus Christ!
