Gnosticism Is older than you think,Gnostic Gospels were said to be to late and not in the Bible, but if you look in The Bible you will see that It use Gnostic meanings for interpretations in the foot note.

Colossians 1:19 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him.

Fullness in Gnostic usage means Spiritual word of beings and this is in a Catholic Bible foot note. so Gnostic usage is in Paul's time.

Colossians 1:19 is not a gnostic statement. The gnostics accepted the deity of Jesus, but rejected the humanity of Jesus. Paul here is stating that in Jesus, the fullness of God was dwelling in human form. This is actually an anti-gnostic statement.

As far as the ages of the gnostic gospels, if you read the writings of the early church fathers, you will see every one of the known gospels mentioned at some point by them as having just been written. In many cases, we are told who or what group wrote the book. It is from those that we are able to date when the books were written.

Yes, Gnosticism is old -- if memory serves it is one of the oldest of the heresies in the Church. The canonical gospels are most likely older than any of the Gnostic gospels.

The Gnostics are popular because they are said to have secret teachings, which only a few can learn. This seems to be a sure fire way to make a crazy cult popular.

I do not think God or Paul would have ordained Gnostic
as a religion much less of God.
