What if I didn't worship God (or the right God) and I did nothing but good with my life. Would those good deeds count as a service to the devil since I wasn't Christian? Wouldn't that be lousy service?

It's a primitive "us vs. them" instinct that religious people like to indulge. Kind of like "school spirit," only not as civilized.

Yes, you are correct. That is just a blanket statement that many people use to try to convict others....unjustly I might add. They by saying it serve the Devil...in this sense....if no matter what you do you are serving thew Devil, then why do anything good at all?

The ONLY differences between a true Christian and someone that does his/her very best to take care of others is that a real Christian is forgiven (if we rely on Christ's righteousness and not our own, can't earn your way to Heaven). When ever you do something that is truly good, you are serving the Lord. We are ALL convicted and guilty under Mosaic Law...EVERYONE has sinned and will do so again....one little sin is breaking the Law...if you break the Law you have broken the entire Law...they are not separate items..they are all one. NO PERSON except God Himself in the body of Christ could fulfill the Law; because God ALONE is Holy...the "curse" of the Law could not be lifted until it was fulfilled 100% by someone. Why? because God doesn't lie.

These people that call good evil, forget the story of the good Samaritan...
The Samaritan's were despised and looked down upon by the Jews; both for sinfulness and lowly estate...they were considered unclean...won't post the whole story, only the summation..
(Luke 10:36) Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbor unto him that fell among the thieves?
(Luke 10:37) And he said, He that showed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

I would encourage anyone to accept Christ; but, only if they really believe. Religious people have pushed so many away from the love, wisdom and judgment of Christ, it is really quite sad and aggravating at the same time.....by doing this, who have they served???

You can't earn you way into heaven by doing good works; but, you certainly aren't serving the Devil either.

Be good neighbor,
Ken Sisk

2 Corinthians14-18 Read this account. One cannot serve two God's. Verse 14 what sharing does light have with darkness?
Also James 4:4, friendship with the world is enmity with God. Whoever, therefore, wants to be a friend of the world is constituting himself an enemy of God. Jesus said this world is being run by satan. Also at Matthew 6 verse 24 No one can slave for two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stick to the one and despise the other. You cannot slave for God and for Riches.

HI! As a christian, i have never ever heard that phrase before, and i think it is untrue. There are a lot of good people who are not christians while there are a lot of christians who don't do the good things all the time. I believe God will recognize your good. And Jesus said that the good things you do to your brethren (or sistern *i know it's not a real word), then you do it unto God...i believe it counts whether you believe in Him or not. But that's just my personal opinion. it can't really be stated as fact. Just do good and hope for the best.

I do not think they would count as service to the devil. I've never heard that statement and I definately don't like it. I believe it is flawed. But then againI don't agree that anyone could do nothing but good either. I believe that we all sin, that is just our nature. You are going to make mistakes none of us are perfect. Good deeds do not get you into heaven but I don't believe that one who isn't of faith who does good deeds is serving the devil.

Yes, it would be lousy service to satan. However, some christians view this as filthy rags. Have you noticed how intolerant is this view of others?

I do not wonder why some christians complain of persecution. With attitudes like this, it is only natural that others will return such attitude with the contempt it deserves.

There are many who believe they are good. None of us really are. Only Jesus walked this earth and was good. That's why we follow His path. People say that I am an earth angel in my family. I say you don't live with me. Ask my husband. We all are short without the grace of God.

There is no true 'good' apart from Jesus.

As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
Their feet are swift to shed blood:
Destruction and misery are in their ways:
And the way of peace have they not known:
There is no fear of God before their eyes. Romans 3:10-18

Mark 10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

Church folks will tell you it's Hell for you unless you ask Jesus into your heart, whatever that means.

Baptists allow you to sin after you are "saved" cause all they care about is you agreee with them.

But if you are of a different religion there is no hope for you, according to them and Bible people in general.

that statement is totally irrational as you well know- just like the idiots who state it- unfortunately the tw**s who make these types of statements have spent most of their lives engrossed in reading fiction and they dont understand the concept of reality- i must admit i do spend a lot of time with alistair mc clean and wilbur smith
