How can Valerie Harper or anyone else dare say The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is a cult?I doubt if she has studied the religion. First the name Mormons is not a correct name for the church. It is not Mormons church, it is the church of Jesus Christ, thus bears His name. How sad people call names that are ignorant of which they speak.

We believe that Jesus died for our sins, that he arose after three days. He later ascended to heaven where he sits on the right hand of God the Father. Sound like a cult? Do not confuse us with the ones who broke away from the true church and allows old men to marry teenage girls. Our church does not preach that. We believe in God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost. Read the book of Mormon, or just our beliefs listed in the back of the book.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is no more a cult than the Catholic Church is. We are a recognized religion. We do good works around the world. We help everyone, regardless of race or religion. I don’t know where Laptop Jesus gets the idea that we are Satanic. It is obvious that he has never met a member of the Church, and has never tried to research it. He is probably taking someone else’s word for it. As far as Tina’s opinion that a belief in the trinity is the only way to be a Christian, she obviously has never understood what the trinity is. Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe in God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. If we didn’t believe in them, we wouldn’t be The Church of Jesus Christ. Like many protestant religions, we do not believe that they are one being, but three beings with one purpose. We are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ when we join the Church. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, and that he atoned for our sins.

Sounds like Little Eccy has The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints mixed up with that fundamentalist church. We certainly do not teach that a 40 year old can marry a pre-teen. That’s illegal, and it’s immoral.

Edge, you are sorely mistaken, but you have the right to your opinion. I just ask that you keep it to yourself. You know nothing about the Church. I doubt that 13 million people would want to belong to a cult like the one you describe. A cult would not garner that many followers. And, who are we supposed to be following? President Hinckley is in Salt Lake City, and probably 12.5 million members have never met him.

Sissy C, we use the Bible, and have been studying the New Testament this year. I love studying the Bible. We use the Bible in all our classes. And, guess what? It’s the same Bible used by you. We use the King James Version instead of any other translation. And, it is printed by Cambridge University Press, the world renowned Bible publishers. We teach the Word of God. We teach of Jesus Christ. You should try attending our meetings once in a while. Everyone is welcome. Before you spout off your lack of knowledge, learn something about us.

I recommend that before anyone spouts off their beliefs that we are not Christian, and that we are a cult, and that we practice all sorts of Satanic rituals, please investigate by visiting www.mormon.org . You can learn a lot about us. We are a warm and welcoming people, no different from you. We have families, we go to work every day, we help our neighbors. We don’t look different. You might meet us in the supermarket. You might stand behind us in a checkout line. You might have us giving you change in McDonalds. You never know where you will find us.

Actually it's "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints". The Book of Mormon is what they use as their teachings.

And cults can use Jesus's name in their title if they choose to. It's silly to think that all a cult has to do to make people believe they are a legitimate religion is to put the words "Jesus" or "God" in their name.

From what I certainly have examine on your question is which you're very plenty against the FLDS church that are no longer Mormons in any respect. howdy could have started from the LDS church, yet while the LDS church banned polygamy they desperate that it became nevertheless a valid prepare and for this reason apostatized from the optimum LDS church. interior the optimum LDS church there is pedophiles and molesters, although, they're many times caught and excommunicated from the church and became over to the community government for added punishment. those that reason actual and psychological abuse go through the comparable destiny through fact the pedophiles....excommunication. With 13 million contributors international, Mormonism is a faith and by potential of that definition and the definition of Merriam-Webster additionally a cult.

I have studied mormonism a bit and it is a cult. It most defnitely is not Christian. Just putting the name of Jesus in your church name does not make you Christian. What if I started the "Church of people killing babies in the name of Jesus Christ". Would that make it a Christian church? Jesus is in the name of the church.
