.243, .25-06, .270, .308, .30-06. As for make and model, I'd choose a Remington 700 VS or one of the Savage Arms rifles. Good guns for the money.

300 win mag., 30-06, .270, 7mm, .308. These are all very good deer hunting rounds. With out the details of what kind of application you will be using this for, this is the best I can do. They are in order from largest to smallest. I would recommend the 30-06 or the .308. The ammo is cheap and there are a lot more selection in gun models. They are both good in timer for close range and shooting through a little brush. And they both are good for that longer 300 yard shot. The 30-06 is a little flatter shooting at longer ranger. But the .308 does not have near the kick being a short action caliber. Hope this helps. Good luck!

The five best deer rifles? As follows:
1. .25-06 Remington
2. .270 Winchester
3. .308 Winchester
4. .30-06 Springfield
5. 7mm Remington Magnum
Any of the above calibers chambered in a 700 Remington rifle are ideal for hunting deer.

I have been using the same Remington model 700, 30-06 for almost 25 years now and is the best gun i've ever had. I had a Browning lever- action 270, but the Remington was much better so i sold the Browning.

.270 Winchester bolt-action rifle
12 gauge shotgun (with rifled barrel)
.50 caliber black powder rifle (in-line or traditional)
.44 magnum handgun (revolver or single-shot w/scope)
30-30 lever action rifle
These are five really good picks that each offer a unique hunting experience and are all very popular. Note how I gave you different guns as opposed to just different calibers/gauges.

For deer, the best gun is a .243 rifle. The .270 rifle is also a good cartridge. The best overall single gun for hunting would have to be a 12 gauge shotgun. By changing the load you can hunt everything from squirrels to bears with it.
