It's just the way people are in the world. Everyone has their own idea on how to do things to gain or loose things. Don't question it, just try to prevent it :)

I often wondered about that and was thinking why is man so stupid that he hasn't figured out by now that if you do that to someone they are going to do it back to you?
Why not just everybody work together to build houses, plant food and make stuff. Share with everyone and actually there would be enough land for everyone without killing each other.
But one tribe of Indians would go to another tribe in a wilderness with all things being equal and when the men where away on a hunting party kill all the women and children in the villiage and take their stuff. when the men got home and was really mad they laid in wait and did it to them when they went hunting. some tribes died out because there was no one left to reproduce.
Why???
In the Americas it caused them to lose the North American continient to the Europeans. In South America Brazilian Indians have all but wiped each other out. It isn't working to well either for the people in Iraq. With every man who dies wether he is an insurgent or not. It leaves 4 more widows with each one and sometimes more than that.
they are becoming a nation of women. When that happened before Mohammad;s time they had all the girl babies burried alive. Because their was to many women for the men to support. Mohammad suggested taking multiple wives and solved the problem.
A better solution would have been for the men to quit fighting and dieing in war.

Animals, humans, and probably insects kill to gain. We're very barbaric creatures, and some people will not know that in their lifetime. People just do this out of their anger though. Once they're in prison, they'll regret it. That's why we have prisons. Killing someone for land/money/people/influence etc. is very consequential. But it's natural. Cavemen probably fought over a piece of meat way back in the early days, it's some people's natural instincts sometimes.

James 4:1 "What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you? 2 You want something but don't get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God."

The idea of taking from another by force came about once man had sinned and was no longer in right relationship with God. As soon as he stopped asking God for the things he needed, he had to start looking for them elsewhere. Unfortunately, that elsewhere was usually by taking them from someone else.

Well, it's in the Bible. Cain and Abel were the sons of Adam and Eve. Cain was a farmer, while Abel was a herdsman. both offered sacrifices to God. Cain's sacrifice, being vegetable, and therefore having no blood, was not acceptable. Abel's was a lamb, so was OK. Cain got so mad about this, he killed his brother and was eternally punished. It's in the Book of Genesis. Hope this helps.

Most of human existence was as hunter-gatherer societies so the kind of killing you ask about would have been extremely rare.
With the advent of agriculture, most likely grains to make alcoholic drinks, the rise in population and the subsequent development of scarcity and wealth, kingdoms, nation states and religion, well, here we are.

It wasn't man's idea, it's human nature. The Bible tells us not to commit these sins yet man has done it over and over again. You should watch the movie Seven ... that should explain it.. check out the link below, it will explain each of the seven sins committed against God.

it wasnt so much an idea as a necessity at the time.. primative people were territorial.. they had to be.. territory = food.. if somebody takes your territory you have to find another or you will have no food...- this is generally the case with all carnivours and omnivours their need for meat causes fights for territory... well heck herbivours fight too but not as viciously...

The innate desire to have what you think others have. "I want what he has". Sometimes it is an innocuous desire, an innocent envy.
For the most part, human nature, greed, the need to be better than, prevails and then there is argument, theft, war.
More. More. And if you get more, why not more?
If all of us were truly equal, there would be no more killing, theft, war.........but in order to reach that zenith we have to be willing to give, give, give and forgive.
Are you ready to step up and give?

Moses.
Abraham, Isaac and Jacob all learned to live with their neighbors.
Have you never wonder why God the Father is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, but not Moses ?
