I would suggest only letting your dog out the gate if you are going to keep a close eye on him to see that he doesn't wander off or get hit by a car and I don't mean watching him from the window. You need to be close by to make sure he stays in his own yard. Or you should get on of those electric fences that runs the length of the yard so he can never get past your front yard. Small dogs are very adventurous. My Bichon will run around the front yard and stay there as long as I'm watching her but the minute I turn my back she wanders. One day she ran all the way across the street to play with the kids in the yard when I turned around for a second to get something out of my car. Fortunately, we live on a dead end so not many cars come by. I learned my lesson that day. Never turn your back on your loose dog.

Poodles are bad about wanting to do that. No do not let him explore.... you will wind up with a dead dog...

Instead but a really long leash or ligth rope on a collar or halter. Stand back and let him go where he wants. ... When tries to go out the gate, yank the leash and yell NO! It will get the idea he is not to leave go there....

an identical you you domicile practice any canine. carry it each domicile (no longer 2 hours) and supply it compliment, affection, and treats whilst it is going potty exterior. do by no skill get mad at her is she has an accident interior. purely calmly %. her up and bring her exterior. freshen up the mess good sufficient so the canine won't be able to scent it. If the heady scent is there she would be able to think of it relatively is okay to potty there. whilst your working, placed her interior the kitchen, basement, or someplace the place it relatively is user-friendly to freshen up messes and not something she gets into. do no longer placed her in a kennel for too long because of the fact she's too youthful to hold her urine/poop and it sucks cleansing up messes in a kennel and you do no longer desire your canine sitting in her crap. she will have injuries so be arranged. And sure, you could flow away your canine on my own longer than an afternoon even though it relatively is a detrimental concept. The canine could be very unhappy, canines are %. animals and should no longer be via themselves for that long, they deserve greater useful.

Well is your poodle a male. A possibility is if your poodle is a male and is not neutred he may be wanting to breed another dog. He can probably smell heat. or if thats not the case you can block the gate with like carboard or something hard. Is he/she crawling underneath it? Block it with something.

well you should go to a hardware store or something and get a shock wire it wont hurt him because we had one but then our dog learnd not to get out any more so we just unpluged it and now she knows better to go near it so you just have to teach it right from wrong.

As a kid my toy poodle died from being hit by a truck. Please don't let your dog out. If you think he needs to explore, leash him and accompany him.
