Saint Barbara was loved for her beauty, intelligence and modesty. She was a convert, in the 4th century, to Christianity. She is one of the 14 Holy Helpers. She attempted to convert others and her father had her martyred. She is one of the early, Catholic saints.

Have a blessed day. It will be a rite of passage and a beautiful memory for the rest of your life.

I always liked Saint Lydia. She was a close friend of Jesus and had Christian meetings in her home. She was a prosperous "seller of purple." This meant that she sold only to royalty as the royals were the only ones allowed to wear purple.

I think you'll find some good ideas. Also, you can look for qualities that you feel are a correlation between you and the saint. When I was confirmed I took my Grandmother's middle name: Grace. It's interesting that you are required to take a saint's name.

Celcilia is popular for musicians....you need to research this on your own, though. Reason? Becuase in the process you will learn about MANY saints- the heroes of our faith...it is, unfortunately, often overlooked in religious educaiton these days!

This will get you started:

Go to www.catholic.org and there is a tab that names all of the saints and angels. There are lots and lots of female saints and I am sure that one of them would fit the bill.

Saint Teresa was called the "Little Flower" beacuse she was so sweet. She had a great sense of humor and had great strength of character. Such a pretty name too.

Go to Catholic.com and find some saints. Try to pick one that mirrors yourself. Mine was St. Francis of Assisi because of his military-to-humble transition.
