Just make sure you have it done right, have them strip the car and paint all of it, just just the outside panels. Nothing ruins a look more than having a custom color job, and when you open the door, there's the original color in the door jamb.

If you don't want to pay to have it done up so that it's all painted, might I suggest leave the car the original color and pay to have some accents or graphics painted?

I guess you've got nothing better to do with $3000 then blow it on paint and rims, hope that's a V6 Tib at least and you plan to hold onto it. I can't think of any good reason to repaint a 3 year old car unless it was in an accident.

If it makes you happy, why not?

However, you should be aware that the resale value will probably decrease with such a custom paint job.
